I didn't read this properly and thought you meant you were Daring me.......

I just got off the phone to Schnitz Motorsports earlier this morning

705 kit ( and a couple of other minor farkles ) shipped today ( still friday afternoon there ) so should be here in a week or so.....

$500USD for kit, $65 freight

Lucky the kiwi dollar is still good at present........

Purchased a couple more cool farkles from the US before Christmas ( some of which I showed to the Dusty Butt KLR riders so I'm about to have a big Farkling session soon)

I'll post results of before and after tests on some of the changes ( Hi Flow header pipe, HID lighting etc, etc

)

Er that was lighting kit, not lightening kit......

But I know what you're saying

The 705 piston is apparently approx 88gms lighter than stock, does that count ( Oops, forgot about the extra weight of the heavier cylinder liner

Apparently the exhaust is the easiest way to loose up to 2-3 kilos....

Picked up my 09 KLR today. loving it.
Spent the morning with the heat gun taking the decals off, now its just plain black

I have the jetkit going in soon, ZG DB screen has been ordered. A bigger top box and crash bars are next on the list.

im assuming its not normal for the KLR to get mass front end wobbles at around 140?

Im guessing its tyre related, front tyre is reasonably knobbly, a golden boy trail tyre (whatever that is). noticed the max speed rating is 130. i laughed.

Will change the front tyre soonish. quite like the look of the anakees. Anyone have any recommendations? Ill be doing mostly road (i like to be able to ride reasonably hard) but want something capable if i do decide to venture off track a little bit. will tackle as much gravel as i can find though

I've ridden Nordie's DR650 & Jatz' DRz 350 with Shinko 705s & have to say they are amazingly good tyres for gravel & road but not wet muddy crap. Depends on how much you want to spend. Peruse the tyre thread at the top as most adv bikes are similar.

As for the head shaking - what was the road surface like. On the Dusty butt there were nearly quite a few tank slappers due to the slippery gravel

Otherwise the bearings could be loose.

Mine (2005) had Anikkes when I got it, they were really good and I rate them on road and gravel. Actually surprisingly grippy off road, but on muddyness just ride slow.

padmei, of you get a drz , what would you take on the DB? Schmidt or the drz?? (pre odd name)

mine gets a nasty weeve from about 130 up
different tires didnt seem to change it.
I don't often go that fast so i've never bothered to try and fix it

provided they have enough ground clearance and enough traction....

in this case an E07 doesn't provide enough traction
this is where I looped the DT and bent the subframe....
