Coatesville-Riverhead Highway

Went home via the above (cue Supertramp) from work on Saturday afternoon. First time down that road, for some reason.

Gawd, it's lovely. If SWMBO hadn't been expecting me home on time I would've turned around and gone back over it. Only criticism is that the distance between Coatesville and Riverhead needs to be stretched out by another 50km or so...

Discovered that I need proper peg feelers. There appear to be threaded holes in my footpegs but for some mysterious reason the factory left the pointy-out bits off. Or something.

I also need a *much* faster bike. About four times the HP should be sufficient.

Still managed to stuff a couple of Commodoristi through the corners, though

Just watch out for the 4 wheel dives etc and keep a good eye out for people pulling out of drives - they tend to not look (country-ish area) - although, with all the bikes hooning it down their road, you think they would be a little bit more aware.....

Yeah, nice roads, but watch out! Horse floats and livestock aplenty on those roads!
If youv'e not done these before, there are heaps up there, some quieter than others.
Favourate loop through riverhead forrest just resealed, loop by poremeremo/albany is cool, but dodgy.
Lotsa backroads - schnapper road is pretty good.
Take care, or you'll wind up inside some horses arse!!

Damn ''seal rot'' creaps further into the forest - all roads around there were gravel,Blackridge road was gravel right out to the main road.I'm getting pushed further and further out to find good roads to ride.

The twisties south of Kawakawa Bay are being ''realigned'',all those nice super tight uphill turns being smoothed out.Anyway,I like it with the roadworks,good fun while it lasts.

Oh arrr. I noticed plenty of other bikes up that way.

Innit funny how the chance of getting a friendly nod or wave from a bike going the other way increases by about 200% when you're out fanging it around the back roads, as opposed to dodging through traffic or buzzing down the motorway.

There was a chappie on what looked like a black-painted gixer, pulled a lovely wheelie away from the lights heading south along the Albany bypass on my way up. Not anybody on here, by any chance? Coz if you're reading this mate, I want lessons, OK?

I understand that road is alsoa  popular one with cyclists. be ware you could come across one (or a hundred) in a bit of a hurry. At least they're all wearing stupid looking high-viz gear! hehe, they  even make some of us posuer Moto-gp wannabies (who me?) look pretty staid with all their fake sponsors logos everywhere!

Hup, I was one of those stupid looking cyclists! Yeah, it is a great road for cycling on though. Watch out for us much neglected road users too!!!
**And before anybody says anything, Yes, it is legal to ride two abrest, and riding on the footpath is illegal!**
