    RG150 - worth anything?

Hey all. A mate of mine in Christchurch has an RG150 that has just spat the dummy and lost most of its compression. He's a poor student so doesn't want to spend any more money on it and just wants to get rid of it.

Are these things worth anything as parts bikes? I told him to stick it on trademe for $1 reserve, but understandably he's a bit nervous he'll end up selling it for next to nothing. I think he wants $500 to $800 for it.

Realistic? Yea I know they're only worth what someones willing to pay (isn't anything?) but someone out there probably knows the market a bit better than me.

    Cheers

Most of the value of the RG150 is in the engine in my opinion, the other parts are relatively common and tend to outlast the (on average) poorly looked after 2 stroke engines. If he can get an assessment of the damage on the engine he might be able to get a couple of hundy if all it needs is a bore and rings.

A reasonable condition one for the track will fetch $1200-1400 with working engine that is. I'll probably be selling mine in a while as it sits while I use my gsxr750 daily at the moment.
