So yeah guys just a newbie trying to get into the riding experience. Its been my dream for a long time to ride. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    This might get you.

Don't write off less sporty bikes as your first. IMO, it's better to learn roadcraft on a slower bike before getting a faster bike.

Your dreaming mate. $2500 will get you a good bike but not one of those high powered sports bikes.

The only bike you will ever need in life is a GPX 250 . Right in your price range and one hell of a ride. I am not biased in anyway

You're going to have to hunt around a bit to get a deal like that. Don't rule out naked bikes or twin-cylinder engines.

Buy a used trail bike, put road tyres on it if wanting some sort of street look. There's nothing wrong with trailbikes. And I'm not talking about effin TRIAL bikes, I mean TRAIL bikes. Yeah. Make it a 250, they'll cruise at 110kph on the road, but fuck the road and roadbikes, too dangerous, the traffics killer, keep the trail tyres on it and do a year or two offroad first, it's way more fun, THEN try hardline roadbike shit

Plenty of 'Old Pros' on here!

Wasn't someone selling that very smart naked GN250 on Trademe for $2.5k ?

It's a great time to be buying a bike. The seller will say no to your ridiculous offer however his wife will take the cash and give you his bike and gear.
