Maintenance report

Finally got around to doing a whole bunch of bike maintenance.
- new tyres (M12 rear, S12 front)
- new heavy duty tubes.
- kevlar grips (puke colour, doh)
- repacked muffler. Had to drill the stupid rivets out.
- new chain, O-ring.
- new sprokets.
- greased up axles and other bits'n'pieces. Marine grease (suggested by clmintie)
- new front brake pads.

Rode at woodhill today, all seemed good. New tyres are excellent. Took a bit for the chain to free up and the front pads to bed in.

What have you lot done lately?

about to do a top end rebuild as soon as the gaskets and bearing arrive

Recently-ish I've put on bushbars instead of the soft mx handguards I had on before, 20mm bar raisers, put on some shorter levers cause the big long ones didn't fit the bushbars, made my bike leopard print (when graphic designers go wild get bored), and the best improvement for riding: got some contact lenses!
Next up: Sort out a bracket to fit the sidestand I have onto the bike, FWW, new grips, and possibly sort out a skidplate, don't know if it'd be easier to make one or just order one from the states, has anyone here made their own?

Did your barkbuster spontaneously break?
Doing the topend is next on my list. Oh, make sure to fit an hour meter when you do it, if you don't already have one.

Punch you should try some grip wire, grip glue isn't working for you apparently.

i have insuffiecient hairspray skills, im too cheap to buy glue.
the throttle one took about an hour to persuade it on, the other wont stop moving, iv put duct tape around the bar, then the grip, then grip wire which apparently is very sharp and im a slow learner

krad, i dropped the bike at home and the bar bit snapped at the point where it bolts to the handle bar on the inside, got it welded then it broke in the same place again
ill try get an hour meter, just need to work out where/how to run the new piston in

Its no biggie to run the piston in dude. I was told to start the bike up for 15 minutes, cool it down again, and start it up for 15 minutes again then your sweet. That was from a mechanic as well. When you go back on the tracks take it easy for a couple of hours to wear it in. Im not expert though! That's what I did =)

Put on a new grip on after a slide on the road, haven't bothered putting other one on yet haa
New sprockets
New rear bearings
New air filter (washing 2 at a time is funner)
Greased head bearings (damn dynamo)
New rear brake pads after today

I think different bar/grip combos stick better, this time i just used wd40 and wire and theres no twisting. Noobi you pushing down with some pilers instead?! I've got some cheap hour meters if you want one.

Reminded me to repack my muffler cheers

ill try get an hour meter, just need to work out where/how to run the new piston in

take it to thunda ride it crash it get it stuck in the boghole lets it cool down as you work out how to get it out worked for me

My grips have no glue or wire holding them on. Just friction baby.

Were a bit of a bastard to get on initially though.

I've tried spray paint as a quick fix (hairspray seems easier/cheaper tho). Seemed alright at the start, but was loosey goosey again by the end of the day. My old bike never had this problem, same pazazz bars and same cheap grips, so I don't know why this one does Duct tape under the grips eh? Still kind of slippery tho, I wonder how well cloth tape would do? Even masking tape maybe? Hmmm...

Repacked Muffler on KX60, a whole lot quieter now. Drained airbox of water and cleaned airfilter. Sprayed CRC all over bike.

Cleaned KX125 carby and replaced main jet with a new one, couldn't unscrew pilot jet so left replacing that for another day. Thoroughly cleaned airfilter, changed plug to a 9. Glared at sump plug but that didn't help. Pulled the round-tuit out and vowed to take the bike to a workshop one day to give them the problem of extracting the bolt. Don't think the round-tuit believed me tho'.

Put new graphic on bike and it looks sic as real head turner.
rebuilt kx for sweet F A now sellin it took for run on weekend not my cupa tea way to slow hahaha

Put bike in garage after cleaning & hubby does any maintenance
Recently its had new sprockets & chain (due to a bit of an accident), new grips (cheapo ones but actually due more), new graphics, new tyres, repacked exhaust think thats all.
Got a list of things for hubby to do before he heads away though.
