New bars are too wide

They're about an inch bigger each side than the old ones. The CB250RS is a really narrow bike. The position is fine for me, but there isn't enough slack in the brake line or the cables to get the controls and levers into a comfortable position.

So basically I'm wondering whether to:

A) Cut 2cm off each end of the bars.
B) Splice the signals and lights on the left and run a longer brake line. I'm actually planning on draining the brake anyway to replace the warped reservoir.

Do you like the way they feel being that wide or not, that is the only real question. If you don't like the feel cut them back, if you do like the feel then lengthen everything.

It's your decision.

I've got some narrower ones here with a slightly prettier bend if you wanna do a swapsy or $30 plus postage (cost me $60)

Cut 'em. Wide bars on an RS250 are silly.

If you don't like it cut them down - just ensure there is room for the switch gear on the flat of the bar if you chop a bit off it.

Right. I'll move the switch gear in as far as I can and lop them. Well, I'll be much more methodical than that but you get the idea!

On a side note, the bars also look weird because the switch gear is further in on one side than the other and the headlight bracket, which the instruments sit on top of, is bent.

No, they look odd because you have what looks like the VH6 bend (too much pull back) and a VH2 would be better or a flat drag bar for a sporty look...

Cut em down by all means - worth a crack...

they just dont look right....also your instruments look out of line with the bike is there a twisted bracket????

but if you like them and are you comfy with them All gud....

personally I would change them I have standard bars on one RS and dragbars on the other RS which are slightly narrow but still comfy for me

have you any more info about what bars a are what,(vh6 ,vh2, are there vh other numbers? ) all my bikes have real bars apart from my race bike that has clip ons. Bike shops give you a strange look if you ask about bars for road bikes now and try and sell you motoX ones

These are VH3s. I was under the impression that VH6s ARE straight bars? I don't like straight bars, despite them looking insanely cool they're just not comfortable for me.

The standard bars have plenty of sweep, though they're very narrow at 660mm. The extra 10mm of sweep isn't the problem. It's the 10cm of width.

but that's not actually why it looks so off center. The tank isn't bolted on right now, and it just sitting loose
