Your used to the thumper which generally you use no throttle when starting hot ( I think??). With a 2smoker if you stall or tip it upside down use about 1/2 throttle (sometimes I use full throttle) and just hold it there when kicking it. Taught this to a guy on the Wires ride after he was kicking over his 125 for about 10 mins, seems to work good for most 2strokes?

Ha you've discovered the difference between the 4stroke and the 2smoke MX bike!! You have to use the clutch more before it stalls, keep it revving and in the power band. A KX85 won't pull from down low like your 250x even with a fly wheel weight. Try more speed and momentum at the bottom of the hill then give it arseholes on the way up. I would think you definitely won't be used to the sound of a screaming 2 stroke after the 250x so your probably riding it way to low in the rev range (well that's my guess over the Internet)! Some adjustments can be made to the bike but the main adjustments will be with the rider.
Unless you do something silly you won't break it so give it heaps and ENJOY!!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

Got ya, i know exactly what you're talking about. Patience is a big one - i dont have much at all. Bascially practice & patience is the solution, which you already know

Lol i remember when i first started i never gave it enough revs - i was scared of breaking it or blowing it up - hubby was always telling me to give it more shit etc.
They can handle a lot so i've learnt.

I always have nightmares about giving it heaps up hills and then going too hard and the front lifting up and flipping backwards and crushing and killing me... Can this happen? Or should I just lay off the booze before bedtimes... (Yes these are real dreams of mine... )

It won't kill you! But yeah uphill wheelies will prob happen when you're getting used to it, bit freaky at first but you get used to it Just stay forwards. You've gotta give it death up some hills or you just won't get up.
I took a good month and a half/two months to feel as confident as far as ability goes on the 2t as the 4t for me. Luvin' it now, but first month of krad telling me I was faster on my dr-z wasn't so cool Which I'm sure was all part of a clever plan to help me go faster since I ride better when I'm pissed off

What Midge has discovering is exactly the crux of the "what shall I buy" in this size bike and trial riding debate!
Bloody KX is to moto x, Crf150f to heavy, everything else to bloody tall or to big and powerful.
Sooner or later some dumb shit manufacturer is goin to catch on and make a killing in this area, but till then we have to compromise!
Although I must say once she masters the kx she'll be a better rider for it but if there was a good trail bike with a low seat height and real suspension in this bracket the learning curve wouldn't need to be so hard.
If Ktm produced a 125exc small wheel or a 85ccexc trail bike that would solve it I reckon something with about a 850m seat height.

Oh my boozy dreams are much different from that! but back to bikes LOL!!!

Haha the front will lift, the flips will happen, the crushing and killing are only in the dreams LOL!!!

Geez I'm having same bloody dreams now for sure! I was just doing the small woops and someone stopped in front me, going along well! Then stopped uphill. Started the bike okay, then put on some gas, slipped the clutch and tried to take off! That's when I stalled it. Now realise have to wring its neck to take off! Yeah I thought I might break it!!! Need ear plugs for the noise it makes!

Yeah definitely a huge hole in the market! I'll have to get in some practice over the weekend!!!

Maybe instead of booze before bedtimes, I have booze before biketimes? Then I might find the front flippy falling off part slightly less unpleasant... maybe funny, even... Oh gawd I think I need a big fat cup of harden the f**k up!
