DR 650 info please

Dont you get a different main jet with the keintech dynojet kit? One that works better for the DR than the std dynojet kit one. Might be wrong but correct me if so!

The NZ DJ kit comes with the needle, e-clip, washer, 150, 155, 160 main jets and some stickers.

Jesse's kit is the US kit that also comes with 165 and 170 mains.

The main difference is that what Jesse recommends you use is much closer to the truth than DynoJet's recommendations.

Opened airbox, open pipe seems to have a baseline DJ tune of 160 main and needle 4th from top.

18.5L nominal.

Made some inquiries, no DJ kits in the country so will order a Kientech kit and probably a designa yello IMS tank.

None available?
No problem getting it from Jesse though.
Also get the extended fuel screw.

Will get a bash plate as well, any brands stand out as better than others?

Is it worth fitting a DJ kt with only the header ground and a GSXR muffler ?
I really want to avoid cutting the airbox if possible.

If your reason for not cutting the airbox top is creek crossing depth type issues the snorkle is only a couple of mm higher than the top of the airbox lid.

Your best bet intact-airbox-and-open-pipe-wise is to pop the snorkle out and install a ktm needle.

Pre-load changes it before the load...

So it's more of an oil column convection cooler...

If the water got that high i don't think it would matter.

I was thinking along the lines of the increased airflow available would be good but that bigger inlet (top cut out) might let more dirt and dust in,maybe not.

Had never considered that interpretation.
A fine distinction but one that actually sums it up quite well.
Pre-loading height adjustment would be more (pedantically) correct but.
