What happened was you were having far too much fun while I was busy getting your bobby pins out of my washing machine pump!

Definately a warning sign. As soon as you get cocky or complacent...WHAMO! I hope it never happens to you again. Coulda been a whole lot worse. Just stay alert.

Oh and btw...just cos u have fancy broadband doesnt mean you should post huge pics. Some of us are still on dial up ya know.

It's not quite what I meant when I said you will be getting your knee down next. After you proudly mentioned you had scraped your boot.

Good lesson tho, we all have to learn . Its alway your first worry after falling off , limping over to see if the bike is ok.

Hey Cheshire Cat, that road is notorious for oil/fuel on the corners. I try to leave it till after mid-day at this time of year to ride on that road. Glad you came out ok, but it really could have been so different. It would be good to go back and have a look at the corner tomorrow if you can. Is it the one near the top on Whakatane side?

    Glad you are ok!

The ride there was great! I didn't have time to go to whakatane so I turned around at the kauwerau turn off and went back over.
I could see there was a bit of ice on the road and a few wet patches but nothing major.
Got stuck behind a truck but he was nice enough to pull over and let me go past
Then....I get to the 35k corners fun fun! the first couple were....But then I come to a left hand 35k corner, I'm doing about 50k.... crash slide ouch.

    Its a buzz eh!

Hey Cheshire Cat, love the attitude considering what has happened.

You got away lightly and was able to get home. Get back on that bike and take those corners again without coming off. Like you say it is all about the learning experience. You should be able to get your line and speed right to allow you to take the corners safely.

    Good luck.

So why weren't you wearing them? Good you had at least some protection tho, and not wearing jeans. Even if they were mine.

This is my first road experience too, does not sound as spectacular as yours, I went down rather than slid. Just rolled a few times.

Hope you heal well, take care out there!
Hey Leyton, I relaise you don't want to steal CC's thunder and thread, but your fall sound a little traumatic for 8-12kph. What happened, did you loose balance or hhit something?

Was nothing as spectacular as Cheshire Cat's fall :P Mine was most likely incorrect balance around the round about in slippery conditions, The road surface was worn and smooth, It was probably black ice, Not 100% sure.
