No I just want to try and split one up and hard mount it to my bike, don't want to try it on an operating one until I've done it to one that already isn't working

I dont think trying to split it up to hard mount will work as its all surface mount tech to make it as compact as possible, if you try component damage will happen.

Are you going to put a fake radar detector on your bike just to piss the cops off?

A little while ago I come across a few forums and articles from people that had split theirs up to go in their cars. One even broke one down with a diagram. Can't find it again though.

It would like kinda swish all integrated into the bike though.

I can show you a photo of the insides of an X50.....
Dont see how you could take that apart without damaging it.

Doesnt look too bad, just put the board somewhere safe and wire out things like the plugs and the volume control. Those things aren't too sensitive to soldering & the pins are usually big enough that you can use a normal soldering iron.

That's what I thought too, but I'd still rather practice on a previously damaged unit before I do it too the new one.

Just to re-hash an old post.

After having no luck with tracking down a damaged unit I brought a new V1, and then opened it up tonight.

There is no way I can see of easily splitting it up as I wanted to in the beginning, the radar and laser detection part are all within a metal housing inside the casing.

So now I need to find a good mounting system to fit my ZX6, the search begins.....
