    First bike?

Hi all looking for a good first bike, am 6"2 112kg, type of bike I'd like is a ninja ZXR or similar, but may be a bit small for me, just something to burn around on, to get to and from work and the occasional open road ride....any thoughts welcome..

BTW the I don't own a bike yet my profile need one to register...

    Thanks

Hey man you might wana try a 250 supermotard, like a honda XR250. Will be alot easier for you to learn on and you wont be hunched over when commuting. But if your still keen on the sports style try the suzuki GSX 250. They are bigger then the zxr and cbr. Good luck
    new tire already

I have a similar issue. I'm only 6", but I have long legs, so I don't fit on an 09 Ninja 250R, and my knees hit the front fairing of a Hyosung 250 (although apparently you can move the footpegs back on those, which might fix it).

My suggestion, trawl bike shops & sit on as many different 250's as you can. If they've got a centre stand, pop your feet on the pegs and see how they feel. Otherwise, take another biker with you to hold the bike up.

I just fit on my wife's ZZR250, but have no probs on my GPX250. Maybe worth a look?
I figure car drivers must be Apes. All they do is sit in cages all day & grunt

    +1 for the trail/motard.

Good fun to ride around town, easy ergonomics for the taller learner, and they can take the odd spill (no ABS plastic to break).

If you're as big as that (no offence meant lol) then I'd seriously consider writing to LTSA for an excemption from the 250cc rule.

    You might get lucky

Thanks to everyone thus far....has this actually worked asking LTSA for an exemption.....I wonder...I have ridden a cbr600 which I found had good power and was a comfortable ride...could only try I guess.

When do the new rules for bikes come in (the ones based on power output per tonne, instead of displacement)?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    NINJAs

You could go and take a 2009 Ninja 250 for a test ride, at some riding school or somthink because for a 250 its got some go,

Sup bro, I'm around the same height as you and I recon you'll look good in a nice cruiser! There is just too much leg for a crutch rocket to handle - unless it's one of those once with a netural sitting position.

Good luck & all the best!

    I'm 6' 4" and I owned a CBR250R for a couple of years.

Not really an issue for leg comfort for me
