I lowered my DRZ by cutting my front brake and clutch levers off half way.

No way in hell I can touch the ground, so I just prepared the bike to be dropped................lots

Have you seen that video ?

No, that one was caken under controlled conditions ( Tui Ad here ) while videoing my mate on his GSX behind me. That was when the bike was at it's full ride height, and was actually the sidestand that the bike Tripoded on, so was totally unexpected too, but a lot more expected that the one with shorter lowering links. ( I don't have the exact measurements with me, but if I remember correctly, the KLR drops about 1/2 an inch for every 2.5 mm longer you make the dogbones, so it's approx a 10:1 ratio

For those that want to see the video Fran is talking about, search Youtube for :-

Scraping The Sidestand on a KLR

about the 40 second mark look out for the sparks and scraping noise ( OK, you can't see the scraping noise, but you know what I mean... )

    Cheers, Stu
My KLR thinks it's a Hyundai - running happily at the red-line hour after hour.....
