Ohlins shock

On trademe theres a ohlins shock for a 05 yz250 [im 90% sure it would fit my bike, Ohlins website states that the "YA 792" fits 02-07, with no option for 08 or 09... 07-09 are more or less the same bike].

Is there gonna be a noticable diff between my stocker and the ohlins?
The stocker bottoms over any decent jumps and fmx ramps, and is sagging a little - needs a service.

Was going to get my stocker re-valved etc but at $400 for this ohlins thats set up for pretty close to my weight it might be a better option? How much are they new?

ive seen them go for about $1000-$1800

maybe thats the trick ones for the roadbikes.

I guess its around that price and i guess i will not need that setup because of my weight.

Could be wrong but I thought ohlins tend not to do stuff designed for fmx style riding????

The KYB on your bike is pretty good and a service is cheap, if you buy the Ohlins you will have a spare shock but who really needs to spend the money to have a spare shock? You still might need to spend money on the Ohlins shock to get it to where you want it.

The new Ohlins TTX shocks are good but I doubt the shock you are looking at is a TTX if its for an '05 and at that price and like I say the KYB is a good unit. At least with your KYB you have a base to start with because you are familiar with what your current shock is doing or not doing for you. My opinion your better to put the money towards getting your current shock up to your spec or even just serviced if its overdue, I see serious amounts of air in most KYB's from the factory. For FMX you really need to make changes if your doing serious stuff.

Its a tough one... All the riding I do is so different. One day ill be jumping, the next ill be MXing or trail riding. I dont want my shock set up for just fmx, it prob makes up 30-40% of my riding.
Im pretty adaptable, my old crf was running on one fork that was as hard as it could go lol

Danger, how much do you charge for a service and revalve. Im 75-80kg, so hopfully wont need to change springs etc. It just bottoms real hard on big hits

Many options depending on intended use but a revalve with the stock pistons for a KYB is $270.00 and includes a full service, nitrogen, oil, cleaning fluids, labour and set up sheet, parts if needed are extra, seals should always be replaced. A service only is cheaper.
P.O.A for different pistons or options for FMX or what ever.
