    Keen for that BBQ idea.

OK, it looks like the Gladstone Pub is going to be the Dusty Butt Headquarters, if that's still OK with you Ryan.
I spoke to the publican again this morning and we have decided that both the accomodation bookings at this pub and the Fiday night BBQ social bookings should be coordinated through me. Ryan's got enough to do without worrying about feeding you lot.

I'll post up the other Fairlie (town) accomodation options tonight - I got round most of them last night & have prices etc. It's a small place & they are all within walking distance to the Gladstone.

As long as nothing gets knocked off she'll be sweet.

Anyone got any estimates on how long in hours this may take. (Ryan)

That'd be a bit hard to estimate being a new route and not really knowing how you go on endurance runs.
You need to avoid falling off or breaking things in order to assist in completing the route within 24 hours.

2008 Northern route 1dayers took between 17 and 22 hours (3 different groups did the 1 day run that year).
    2009 some reported 16 hours.
There's no way I could do that safely, even without stopping I wouldn't be able to avoid oncoming traffic/trees or tickets at the speeds required.
My Northern route completion time was about 19 hours, 45 minutes on the DR650 the one time I finished without incident.

Friday night DB digs & social

    Options are here: http://www.fairlie.co.nz/html/accommodation_.html
For accomodation bookings other than the Gladstone Pub, please contact the listings direct. Most now know about the ride, so mention you are with the Dusty Butt & they might do a deal. If you want more info on the listings, ping me a PM.

For those wanting to stay at the Gladstone, please PM me, not the Pub. $30 single, $45 double or twin. However if we support them with a full house, then it's a $35 flat rate for bed and breakfast. First in first served, limit 15. Includes covered bike parking that looks good & secure.

Friday night social incl $10 BBQ tea is @ the Gladstone, all welcome. As Ryan mentioned we have use of both the beer garden and the rear lounge. For catering, please confirm your attendance by PM to me.

There shouldn't be any hassle getting accomodation for those wanting to stay in Fairlie on the Sunday night.

Arrow Two Day Accomodation - Again

Thanks XF650 for looking into the BBQ and accommodation options.

My wife and I went for a drive this weekend down to Alex and back to have a look around and to map out a bit more of the route. I also finally found the Moa Creek Pub and discovered it's really not the tidyest looking place. Also my wife and I were talking and came to the conclusion that because you have to carry bedding and food it probably isn't the most convenient place to stay when Alex is about 30 minutes further on with motels and food places. This might explain why I've only had responses form 7 of you wanting a bed at Moa Creek.

I'm guessing that the rest are organising places to stay in Alex yourself, so if the 7 that have sent me an email and cash would prefer to stay in Alex and would like their cash back let me know and I'll refund you.

    Cheers R

Fair enough, although I still think Nordie & his banjo would fit right in at the Moa Pub.
