Has anyone tried these mounted on top of a tank bag or do they work best mounted on the handlebars?
The variable drag is from the tension on the nyloc nuts/washers sandwiching the wall.
The bolts are decor bolty things from Mitre10.
The black knobs are from Dick Smiths.

The only change I've made are a couple of bits of bike spoke with drinking straw over them to hold the roll closer to the lid. Slightly too close to the lid as can be seen

The whole box is only 8x11x5.5 cm.

I print the roll out at 55mm wide.

Mounted to the clutch and mirror bolts.

You could also fill it up with "Transalper Travel Food"

Thanks for that - it is quite small (and that's prob a good thing) - would a little longer be any advantage so you can see more of the route map at a time?

It looks like the lid isn't the easiest thing to see through with those dimples all over it ??

It shows 3 cells at a time and is easy to see, just not the easiest.

I've never used it in anger on a ride as I've always used the GPS or followed others.

Well I'm pretty well decided I will do the 24 hr DB this year - but I am expecting to ride it pretty much alone apart from seeing other bikers along the way so I can't count on following others and will definitely need to follow either one of these or a GPS (which I haven't got - yet)

Or print the maps/ trace the route on to a better map.
Seriously, there's a bit of fun to be had simply using the roll chart... though I like my GPS too.

standard xt600e form 2002 but with 74 ks,had 73 but rode from gisborne on it through the southerly on wed that swept over the north island and when I got off the ferry yesterday it was a great day to ride home.

Bad news is there is a bad noise from the fifth gear which I never picked up on the test ride,so the inevetable pull down will happen if it gets me through the summer,

Seems a bit lacking in power too but once its over 4 thou it seems fine, probably cos I,m used to the torque of the africa twin which sadly will be up for sale soon. But apart form that I,m happy with the condition its in and it came with a givi rack and pannier. It was nice just cruising along at 110 yesterday in the sun and had a good ride apart from the cow shit coming off the lorry in front .....funny that as the smell stayed with me till I realised there was a spot of poo stuck to my helmer......

I had an old xt before and was very happy with it so it will be interesting to see how long before I think I need more power......

    Sat night 16th Accomodation

Alexandra Holiday Park have confirmed that towels will be supplied with linen and that the Dusty Butt kitchen is fully equiped = less stuff to carry.

    Good job

Sounds like it will be nice and convenient.

    Hi all.

I'm keen on doing this but it all seems a bit hard.

Can someone please do all the organising for me & I'll turn up with whatever I have to bring?

Struan I've sent you a PM but I'm not sure where we are starting from or going to or what. (Fcuk I find it hard to find my feet a lot of the time let alone somewhere out of Nelson)

I promise I'll be really obnoxious & sing in the shower offkey.... again...

Anyway either help me or abuse me but don't ignore me....
