    I am getting the bike...

shod this week, me thinks it might be a tad too early as I still gotta use it for work.
Bit of a catch 22, as it is Christmas etc, the bike shop closes down. I need them to do this for me as I have a new wheel to fit. I know if I tried it myself it would be stuffed up and as I am using the bike for a bit of a trip south, it needs to be right!
I might wait a little longer and get it done at the last minute as they are a bit knobblier than usual..

    Talking I have the stickers

Went over to the printers today and collected the DB1k 2010 run stickers. I've finally made them a nice KTM orange after a couple of years of requests, simply because I finally own one The phone camera is making the color look a bit naff.

I thought that ktm riders expect everyone else to open the gates for them.

As well as trainer wheels I might have to get some thicker soles

Na - we are so fast that we have to do something while waiting for others to catch up

You will probably find me hanging around gates helping keep them open and the likes, anything for a rest from the seat

Just tested the bike with all the luggage fully loaded, looks comfortable!
    From 18 Dec 09 - Tire problems?

Not bad since that will be all the gear I need (read have) for my trip, which will be over 2 months, and include Auck to welly, upper south then a bit of local stuff around south cant, the DB, then maybe the ADV Rally which is mid feb, then back northbound.

Experienced tour riders, what will I have forgotten to pack?

I never leave home without a credit card and a sense of humour ,dont take up much room and they always come in handy.

mrs Woodman can't believe that I have started packing already. Just doesn't understand that loading a bike is different to the car. Mind you me not being an experienced tourer I still aren't quite sure what to and what not to take.
