    I am in too....

I will be making the trip down, I now work regular hours so can plan things better....Beats shift work in some ways.
I will probably come down on a Friday, do the ride either one or two dayer, dunno bout that yet....
Maybe the two dayer....Anyway, then plan on using some of the routes heading north for maybe three days or so, including the Molesworth, Rainbow and of course some knarlier ones possibly...
It will be my first time in the Sth Island on a Motorbike....really!
I have tramped it, worked it, sailed around it, camped on it, driven it, raced in it, ridden a Mountain Bike around it....NOT ridden it on a KTM.....
So, this will be something to look forward to especially if it is 80% metal roads, give or take! anything without a white line suits me.....

Might be keen to join you on one or two of those if the timing is right for me heading back up.

Thanks to the DB of past years there are plenty of trails and tracks and roads mentioned that I want to try out...Reefton way, Port Underwood, etc...some of my old haunts from days gone by....Plus, I am sure we might get a few others together and hit roads north, see if we can ride north without hitting SHWY1 until Blenheim, should be do-able with a bit of planning, more metal the better....

The jatz clan are gunna head down on the Wednesday before, via the West Coast at this stage and then come back up the East Coast and through the Rainbow, maybe the Molesworth too.
Hopefully have the young fullah along so it won't be a fast trip.
We plan on not being home before the Wednesday after the event

*phew* glad I did not buy a big one then.

Anyone planning to be around the Fairlie area prior to the ride?
I will be there from about the 10th of Jan, will be ripping around the place probably doing a few trail rides around friends farms and what-not.

I assume you mean our trip round the block down south this weekend? We are meeting in Albury Pub (16km towards Timaru from Fairlie) on Friday night for a 9am kick off on Saturday. Finish the ride on Monday with a blat up the plains to Chch. One of our fellow riders has decided not to join us for the weekend so if the bed bookings have not been cancelled there may be a space available.

Gonna be a big run for a running in ride!!! Only about 2500kms from NN down and back again!

    Cheers R

Hmmm, just read the entire thread, I may need some lessons from someone locally in the know on them rollchart thingys.
Also will it be an ass if in a week or so I opt out of the one day and go to the 2 day?
The one day looks like a pretty good challenge so is veeeery apealing.
Does it start and finish in Fairlie? Edit ..Answered. Read Ryans website. Very impressed . Thanks

    Things to think about/organise.

    Accomodation.
    Tyres
    Route their and back.
    A one day buddy/group.
    Not getting lost.
Lots of other stuff I haven,t thought of.

Looking forward to it either way.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

dont be put off by using roll charts. i had my first go this weekend and had no problems. i quite enjoyed the challange of riding and keeping my eye on the chart and tripmeter. i had more of a problem when i was following and not keeping an eye on my chart and missing a turn off or 2 that the others had taken

Cooneyr has done a great job on the roll chart and with a few updates from the prerun will be foolproof
