Book us in for Moa creek too, do they have doubles?
We're doing the 2dayr 2up ...Anyone else 2up'ing ?
At this stage Mountie and his pillion (my wifes sister) may be joining us ,hollidays permitting .
Although she may be looking for a place in a support vehicle after the ride down from Tauranga .
We will have to get a bit of a pilgrimage organised for the norf of the south'ers ,maybe via Molesworth or Rainbow ?
Thats classic. So why do we all have 650ish + machines!
Thanks for organising this XF. I'll put a note about this in the first post. If people want a bed put your name on the 2 day calendar (easiest way for me to keep track).
Speaking of which I still need to find a support vehicle for the two day riders. Anybody know somebody?
Good idea on the Molesworth etc for those coming from the north.
Cheers R

We're signed up for the 2 day brie and crackers tour.Solong as the bikes hold together, might even drag the young fella along
Have considered the options a bit more and put my name on the calendar for the two dayer as the more likely bet for me this year too.

Err, you may have to do the donkey work as far as convincing her goes, I suspect. She is pretty reluctant at this stage, but we will get her out on some rides and see how we go.
Aw shucks. A sudden attack of common sense, the last thing we need.
Cheers

Nobody knows what human life is, why we come, why we go,
so why then do I know, I will see you in far off places?

I hadn't seriously considered doing this two up - was regarding it as a one day seriously fast gravel bash. However your post has me considering this as a two day event where I take the Princess with me at a more relaxed pace and take her into the back of beyond to see some places she won't have been before.
I will have to have a talk with her about the dates etc but I expect we'll be a starter for the 2 day event and also looking for a "2 up" room for the night![]()

ho hum, I've taken my name off the calendar for the pre run route check.
Going to take advantage of the weekend to cycle the Otago Rail Trail instead... weather permitting. Was going to do that Show weekend but since J and I already get half of most Fridays off anyway it makes more sense for us to do the cycling trip when its the Monday that's a Public Holiday.

My name is back on the calander for the route checking weekend.

It looks like I shall be in Fairlie around the time of the DB1k, I am not that keen on 1000km, I think I may join you guys for the start down to Kurow, and maybe meet you guys on your way back north over at Benmore.
Would that be acceptable?

You do realise that there is a two day option i.e. ~500kms per day? Guess it is not that obvious on the first post. We are trying to organise accommodation for the two day riders.
It would be pretty hard to meet up with the one day riders coming north again as there could be 5 hours between the front and back groups. Also you would have to kill maybe 10 to 15 hours between Kurow and Benmore - a 30 minute trip.

Yes, I knew there was the 2 day option, I am also seriously considering doing that.
I have friends around the Kurow/Waimate area, figured I would spend the day with them, and just try my luck at meeting the group around benmore. I am sure I could find a spot with a nice sunny outlook to enjoy a book for a few hours while I wait for you lot to come through.
But thinking about it more the 2 day event might be better.
