TA is right though. A normal days ADV riding (well what I call normal anyway) with a hour lunch break, 5min regroups every hour or so and not mucking around too much often works out at about 50kph overall. So given you have 500km to travel each day it will take a good 10 hours and if you stop for photos or ride in a big group (takes a long time to regroup) add more time. I'd be allowing 12 hours for the day i.e. 8am to 8pm. Remember the intent of the DB1k is to challange you, to ride lots of gravel, to see some cool scenery and to talk ADV. It isn't a coffee run (I can say that cause I dont drink coffee)!
In saying all this from what I've heard the two day riders do have a pretty good time though. There are a reasonable number that are back for their 2nd and 3rd run.
