Hi All,
I've just realised that as Nordie is unfortunatly not going to join us but rather be a nerd and work over the DB1k, there is one spare bed at the Gladstone pub in Fairlie. First to PM me that they would like the bed has it. $35 BnB with breakfast at 6.30am.
Cheers R

Hi Cooneyr
I already have a place at the Gladstone for the Friday but can you add me to the list for the Alex Holiday park on the Sat night.
Thanks
John

I've had a couple of people comment that when use they chose the "follow road" option on their GPS after selecting "navigate" for the DB1k route, the GPS complains that it can only use a 50 point route. Please do not choose the "follow road" option but rather the "off road" option. This allows the GPS to use as route file with as many points as it can handle (normally 250 points but 50 points on some older models).
The "follow road" option is designed for use with auto routing maps so does not need as many points. Problem with this is that there are no roads in the auto routing maps for much of the DB1k route. I have put enough strategically located points in the route files so that you can use the "off road" option and you should not get lost
If anybody is still having problems with the route file, feel free to ask me more questions and/or to bring your GPS and a USB cable to the BBQ. There will be a laptop available with the route files loaded and I'll do my best to get your GPS working.
Cheers R

Thanks for that Ryan. I guess at present it shows errors beacuse it is trying to plot a course across the Cook Strait for me. I will see what happens when I land on the Mainland.
Hi All. I've just rung all the land owners who's property we pass through and the Gladstone and Alex accommodation to check they are all good to go, which they are. There are two more bits of info that everybody needs to know
- The BBQ at the Gladstone Pub is at 6pm - $10pp (though you all knew that already right!)
- You need to give me $10 at the BBQ for access to various tracks. Two $5 would be preferred as I have to deliver $5 per bike to two farms.
11 sleeps to go!!!
Cheers R
