Is a second-hand DR650 tank saleable?

Looking at an IMS tank for Suzy and wonder if there is a market for a secondhand stock tank that is as new condition?

In a promise made to my wife I wonna keep the costs down a bit.

Any input would be good.

Got a DJ kit and screw etc coming from Kientech as well, so all good.

Got a DJ kit and screw etc coming from Kientech as well, so all good.

I spent about another $4k on mine post purchase, to prepare it for a big Aussie trip. The problem is, that all those mods mean bugger all to the resale value when the time comes.
Consequently, in the run up to sale day, whenever it may be, I plan to return it to standard and sell the farkles separately.
Just something to consider.....

yes i still have my factory tank under the bench, wraped up.
so it will go back on bike when its trade in...oneday..

Its sellable (but wont fetch enough to be worth it) compared to keeping it and selling it with the bike later, then selling off the aftermarket which'll still be worth something

Good points raised, I have done just that with all the other vehicles as well, you never get anything back for the lollies on the machine.

Also consider the cost of replacement if ( heavan forbid ) you ever have an off on the seal at speed, where the road could easily wear a hole in the new wide IMS tank. Standard KLR tanks are steel, but are nearly $1700 to replace, so I think hanging on to the original could save you in the long run......
