They have roads around norway and sweden that are also made to land nuclear tactical bombers on. They have huge stockpiles of bombs in hidden bunkers nearby. I met a guy who was an emergency response fireman for the bunkers, apparently the life expectancy of a fireman in that job is 1 call out. He had a fireblade and mentioned that guys in the job mostly ride bikes (and a few turbo ones) because of the straight roads and that their life was in considerable danger anyhow with work.

    hahaha

Mikey, you sure know how to wind people up. But I know you wouldn't really do that. I've heard urban legands of groups of bikers dismembering riders who ride drunk on track days. That would take up valuable track time, so no drinking!

Ahh that's what he did wrong. He shoulda bribed them.

About that comment re motorways and 'planes; I understand that some US freeways have to have straights of a predetermined length so that they could be turned into runways at short notice. This to enable the Airforce to spread the risk in the event of an attack.

Military use of motorways isn't new, I seem to recall the first motorways were built with military use uppermost in mind.

perhaps you oughta read the article again! It said he outran them a few times, had to get back on the highway, out ran them again, and only stopped when they blocked the full width of both sides of the highway with patrol cars!

buggered if I can figure out how he only picks up R1000 fine for that... it'd hardly pay for the petrol the cops used to chase him! Strange bunch you saffa's!

Hi guys, saw this on another newspaper site last week which has a "better" story to what happened. He didnt do a runner, he was going too fast to stop for the cop so when he got to the next off ramp he turned around to go back to the cop. Another excuse was he couldn't hear the sirens at 275km/hr so kept going.
About ten years ago a rider got caught doing 303km/hr.
I loved the roads over there so can understand why the guys go so fast.

The newspaper I got this from is the Natal Witness

And here I was thinking the length and width were for Harley riders to prepare for the next corner (PT)
