True. I've never been able to get my head around the fact that (alleged) speedsters get fined for popping 111kph on perfect roads on perfect days but carve someone up and you get three meals a day, tv, access to a library, can put yourself through Uni' and get your teeth fixed. (Amongst other things.)

Well, in 2007/8 760,920 of New Zealanders joined the ranks of heinous criminals. Don't know the figure for 2008/9, but it's going to be higher. So you're in pretty good company.

Nowadays pretty much every NZ adult is deemed a criminal by the police. Which may account for why people are less likely to dob in the *real* criminals.

So in ten years every New Zealander would have joined 'the ranks of heinious criminals eh?' (Give or take).

Adds a hell of a lot of weight to the arguments that:

• The coppers primary role is to act as highwaymen removing money from innocent folk. Property protection is a by product [ever rang the cops after suffering a theft, property damage? "ring your insurance....the fookers will not bother even turning up to take witness statement, fingerprints].
• Speeding is a guaranteed, dependable resource of money for the government. They plan on increasing the take on a yearly basis. Speeding is big business!
• Members of the force MUST be collectively brain washed to accept explanations surrounding speeding. In fact many members of the force DO NOT believe the 'official' line.
• In its simplest form; speeding is tax!
