How does it ride - its absolutely farking addictive - on the gravel it is a huge step up from the Tiger. On the road it is a bit harder to keep down near the speed limit!!
I'm impressed with the seat and the riding position - better for me due to my height
The headlight is pretty good but not brilliant - lacks a bit of straight line penetration but has really good spread but had a few cars flashing at me so I think they're a bit high so the penetration might improve when I bring them down.
Very icy from home through the gorge (about 8km) so it was a very careful start to the ride
Stopped in Milton to check the switch for the hotgrips under a street light - when I took off again there was a car coming - so I nailed it a bit - FARK - wonderful power wheelie` !!!!!!

I presume the Adventure would be similar to the supermoto... if so, H4 bulb, whip out the old one, and chuck a Hella +90% in

Watch out for the Givi E21 panniers too... they aren't nearly as strong as the more expensive givi range (well, thats what you get when you get two boxes for less than one). Totalled a box coming off at 68kph on the road when I lowsided. Had to use a tie down to hold it all together, and you can only buy in pairs... (so I have 3 now). An E52 Maxia took 3 goes down the road before it developed a crack, that I had plastic welded...

    Otherwise... have fun!

Seems to be the season for it. I picked up my 950 in Nelson on a Saturday then on Sunday rode the 400km back to Chch with about 20km of it on ice. Great way to get to know a new bike

XTZ will be put on the market in about a fortnight. Letting the bank balance recover a bit then doing oil change, WOF reg etc on the XTZ.

Mine has a H7/H1 bulb set up - Euro spec. The yank's like to throw away the H4 bulb and lense in favour of the Euro H7/H1 set up. Low beam is pretty good but high was crap. Found the H1 high beam bulb was installed upside down and therefore was not located properly. Not had the chance to try it since I fixed this. Will eventually chuck the +90 bulbs in.

Weel done ruralman. Nothing like the shine of a new bike to get you smiling. I hope you aren't parking it next to the Tiger at nights - might be a few stratch marks on it in the morning...

McIver and veitch have just traded in a silver 950 adventure with 54Km on it - it looks immaculate and from memory it was about the $12500 mark

I have kept the good panniers I had on the Tiger - you're right, the ones on this bike are a bit cheap and nasty but I'll leave them on unless I want the bigger ones.
I think theres nothing much wrong with the power of the headlight - got it lined up at M&V today and it was far too high, so I think fixing that will solve the problem
As for having fun - its bloody hard not to!! I am liking this bike more and more each day. Bit of a blast up a forestry road today really confirmed to me just how good it is. I suspect its also going to be a little bit (understatement of the farking year this one!!) harder on the rear tyre

Congrats on the Kaboom, sounds like you will enjoy it. I'm hoping to do the DB1K next year so we may get to compare notes.....
