I would be very keen to have one made or even copy the exisitng one I have now. I have fitted it to the Husaberg, so I do need one for the 640A. I would think that maybe 10mm wider or so might be better for luggage? Plenty of tie down points and it is nice and light.
    The price is awesome!
    Nice work....
Laser cutters in the Waikato, I am sure there are some here but not out in this neck of the woods...
I can probably arrange a copy of your original one without the lip pretty easily. Take a good photo or three as close as possible to perpendicular to the plate, give me some measurements i.e. length, width and maybe diameter of holes etc and measure, remeasure and measure again the mounting bolt locations send it all to me and I can probably draw it up and get it cut easy enough.

Should really be doing roll charts for the dusty amongst many other things but I should be able to get it done pretty quickly (fortnight).

Dunlop D606 front. Big bikes (XTZ especially) and hard braking doesnt do much for their life span but they hold on well to the seal and the dirt. If the 950 kills it quick like I'll be giving a T63 front ago next.

    Looks nice!

I've made a couple the old fashioned way - jigsaw, drill, holesaw, file... Pretty easy if you've got the appropriate powertools, but if you had to buy the alu rather than scavenging it, getting a bit pre-holed from the lasercutters for a few bucks more makes sense.

    Cheers

That looks great, I am going to need to get a bracket for the rear of my 690 to hold my rear bags off my exhaust, I was going to have a look at options for doing it myself, only need to cut/bend and drill.

But at $50 for a rack like that, (and I am sure mine would be less work than that) $50 is a bargain.

Now i just need to design it I guess.

I was tempted to scavenge a bit of alloy and do it myself but this is a heap tidier and was pretty cheap really. I was initially sceptical that it would cost that little but after a phone call I though bugger it just do it.

I'm pretty sure that $50 was their min charge our rate. They queue small jobs like this and do them all in one go so their cost to do the work is minimal if you supply the correct file type (dxf). I ain't complaining though.

I've got this hard parts to protect the frame and brake cilinder done for a 12 pack thanks to KSlider, they were laser cut and fitted perfect. If you're able to put the design togheter it can be really cheap. BTW I got the design from a guy on the states

Nice one. Is the gear shift leaver "mods" to help stop another shaft "incident"?

The back of the knobbs wear out on pretty much all front tyres due to braking I think. Back tyre gets braking and accelerating forces so wears more evenly. MT21 does a very similar thing though is more annoying (ready bouncy) when getting well worn. I ran a D606 front on my DR650 till I sold it for about 8k kms and it was still looking pretty reasonable though was starting to shape up. Went through three rear D606's in this time though!

    I like the non-directional fronts.
Once they become noticably worn/tapered you just reverse them.
Rinse and repeat until they get (almost) to the Padmei stage.

HEY That tyre got me round the laid back trail (almost) It's still got hours of tread left in it.

    Anyway back on topic.

Thanks for that. I might investigate up here a bit more and extend the width 10-15mm out on each side, get rid of the lip so it is flat. The bigger base will help for those Waterproof sacks I use for going away.
Thanks, you have given me some good ideas and if it is cheaper than buying from overseas, I am more than willing to put in the effort...
