we could ride to the beehive and protest. While we are there we might as well use the land to camp out and have a motorcycle rally.

ACC Minister Nick Smith said the review would study whether basing the ACC levy on the safety ratings of cars could help drive down the $336 million annual cost of road crashes.

"I've seen information that the cost of motor vehicle accidents would be 40 per cent less if every vehicle on the road met a five-star safety rating. That's a huge difference and the question is whether that can be translated into a financial incentive for people to invest in safer vehicles."

It would be possible to connect vehicle registration with the make and year of a car, link that to a safety rating and a discount or extra premium.

Taxing the people who can't afford to get newer cars with higher safety ratings... Great idea... I'm less worried about paying for the injuries received by some poor bastard in a 20 year old honda civic than I am about having some idiot in a SUV post themselves in my drivers side window. Maybe we would be better off taxing people according to how much damage their car is likely to do to someone else in a crash.

Then again, I also think speeding fines etc. should be relative to a person's income/personal worth, although more demerit points and less money in fines is a good start...

aparently motorcycles are considered dangerous by the acc, they would much rather you do safer things like throw yourself down a mountain, out of a perfectly good plane, or tie a big fuck off rubber band to ya and jump of a bridge

if that was the case, the majority of people who attract such fines would get away with it. [not that they pay them anyways, but still]
