Ever had a tyre pressure gauge explode?

Just went to check my rear tyre pressure with el cheapo repco tyre pressure gauge and the damn thing exploded in my face Worst of all i can't find the main face/pressure dial that went flying off somewhere. I just hope its not embedded somewhere in my bike! Can only find a few small pieces lying around. I think its off to repco to have a talk

Pressure in the tyre was 30 psi so there is no reason for it to explode (except its made of el cheapo plastic!).

Found the main dial part. Fell out of somewhere when i rode out of the garage. I think it might have shot up into the wheel somewhere. Pretty dangerous i reckon!

Repcos in house brand i believe. It has slime written on the face of it. Cost me about $16?

Happened to me the first time i used a cheapie from supercheap

mow on the lookout for one tha will attach to my compressor and can easily go on a standard valve (the ones at gas stations dont fit my bike easily)

Well it reads (or it did before it blew up) the same as my Super Cheap Auto foot pump! Two consistent readings are good enough for me

Buy decent tools and when using any pressure gauge always hold it at an angle to your face when you initialy put it on in case it explodes,as it did in your case. Lucky it didn't take out your eyes. This especialy applies to high pressures as in dive bottles. It shouldn't and is unlikely to explode but there is always that once as you have found out. Glad you were not hurt.

The real question is, what actually was your tyre pressure.

I used to have an el-cheapo Repco one. Then I started wondering how trust worthy its readings were.

buy good gear for a bit more money or buy cheap shit every couple months..
