Looking for a charity to support

Hi there, I work for Street and Sport Motorcycles, and we are holding a Mods and Rockers run as well as our regular runs, and I want to find a charity we can support. The Westpac Helicopter, St Johns etc all seem to get regular support and are well funded, so I want to find a small and struggling organisation that would really appreciate a bit of extra cash. Ideally something to do with motorcycling, but I'm not locked on that.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks, definitely worth considering, but my one question is that surely lobbying against drinking and driving is a little unnecessary given it is heavily policed and socially unacceptable?

I'll just put you straight, B.A.D.D is not a lobby group, it's purposes are for education and promotion of the awareness of consequences and educational focussed.

I personally lobby with another group! Which is not a Charity!

The rescue helicopters aren't well funded and can always do with more, St Johns too.

That may be so, but we still have riders killed on the roads by these people who choose this as their lifestyle choice - being socially unacceptable does not mean that it is not done, and its not all about lobbying.

The Christchurch branch of the non-profit organisation I work for can always do with money. www.hohepa.com
The residential care we provide comes out of government funding but anything else comes out of fundraising or donations. One of our upcoming fundraising campaigns will probably be for a couple of Automatic External Defibrillators for a bit of protection for those of our guys with dicky tickers. http://www.stjohn.org.nz/education/aed.aspx Outstandingly good things that anyone can use and worth about $3000 each from memory.

Oh, and our guys seem to like bikes and were mightily impressed when I got to deliver Santa standing on the back of my bike a couple of Christmases ago.
