    Suzuki DRZ400 noise!

Hi, new member to KB.. Have a Suzuki DRZ400SM, 2007, done 14,500k, making a bit of a noise/tinkering that in hainvg problems getting diagnosed.. would like feedback or opinions on.

Bike started making a ticking type noise when warm at idle. Took into Suzuki & had the once over, valves etc, guy reckoned he fixed it, said something to do with camchain tensioner.. however, hasnt fixed it at all.

Bike been really looked after by a guy his 50's that works at Suzuki, he put hot cams in at 10,000k. Bike running mint.

Any ideas what it might be??

    Cheers

Camchain tensioner is one of the usual suspects...

Which version of the DRZ is it? (DOH, sorry just re-read that it's the SM version) Still, some DRZs come with flatslide carburettors (or have them retrofitted for performance), on some flatslides the slide itself sometimes rattles during idle. (Does the rattle change if you tighten the throttle - not putting it on, just taking up the slack in the cables?)

You say warm idle only? I mean, singles vibrate a bit and if there's a couple of bolts in need of tightening anywhere you could have some random bit rattling a bit.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Thanks for that Mikkel.. noise def coming from the camchain side of engine, quite high up.. Its a FCR39 carb & have tightened the cable. Its an internal tinker type noise.

Ive had so many different opinions from mechanics, one guy reckoned it was the gudgeon pin!! Any one know of trustworthy mech that doesnt charge $90 an hour would be usefull too in my search for answers!

Check out thumper talk .com for a manual cam chain tension that comes with instructions on how to fit it yourself.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

I had my ACCT go out on my 01 DR-Z400E.. was an expensive repair I now have in my desk a manual tensioner that I didn't install, and the DRZ has since been stolen. If you want it, it's yours for the cost of shipping (Assuming it'll fit, which it should)

Yep MCCT is the way to go.

However if its still under warranty Id get them to put in another ACCT, but buy a MCCT as soon as warranty goes
