Tag O Rama discussion: BOUNDARIES n more

Primary reason fior starting this thread is to have a discussion on Boundaries, but we can also use this thread for other discussions,re Welly Tag o rama.I think we should try to keep the main thread as "clean" as possible cos sometimes its hard to find the new tag post!
I have thought we could go as far north as Palmerston north and Masterton?

We have to be very careful as that lot up norf (HB) may take it into their heads to steal it.
As long as it stays in the Welly crews range, I'm happy with that.
We can make a call that if it gets 'stolen', then we will just take the previous tag and carry on from there.
Because as much as I like road trips, I would hate to use a tank of gas to go get the tag only to find it has been taken further afield and out of reach.
    That would kill the game.

I would prefer to keep it slightly closer, say Otaki or even Waikanae, until the weather improves and the nights get a little lighter. There ARE a few of us prepared to face the elements for a short blast to get the tag, but I for one am not prepared to do a 2hr round trip after work, in the dark and cold just to find that someone more local has already grabbed it. (sorry you guy's up the Kapati coast). I also don't think my other half would be very amused!

I know it has stayed very local to Welly in the last couple of weeks but that has been just to keep it rolling along. Maybe we 'locals' need to move it slightly further afield up the coast to give the Kapati lot a chance.

Once the summer arrives (if it ever does) and the nights get lighter (and warmer), then we can revise the boundaries.

    Just my thoughts....

Im happy not to take it too far North, I think Palmy would be fine in the summer months but not so much right now perhaps Waikanae, Te Horo or Otaki. Being from Waikanae Myself I would like to be able to post within my own district so I can utilise some of the landscape features that I am a little more familar with. I made the effort for the Porirua tag yesterday and had a tag worked out in my own stomping ground, but decided to keep it further south so that the Late nighters ( the NUTS, as I think it was put ) could still keep the game alive, Would like some clarification on the Boundaries, because I think the Effort thing swings both ways.
Im with Hawkeye on the resolution to a stolen tag, we just continue the game from the last legit tag - that would soon take the Wind out of any Jaffa's sails.
Perhaps - in the long term a game of "Capture the Flag" between North Central and South, where members from different districts try to move the flag(tag) closer and closer to a Predetirmined Host point in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch where team play is encouraged for players to pass the parcel toward their districts host destination while those further afield try to claim it back.

I don't see any problems with the game so far - other than myself not getting as many tags as I'd like! But perhaps we could impose a km radius limit from the last tag for example.

I'd say its contained itself nicely at the moment, I know sin would be happy to extend things further north but until daylight savings kicks in I think the distances covered so far are spot on, once we've got more daylight hours I agree though, Imho i think a line across the country from fielding to dannevirke is a good option

Yeah put a limit on the radius before it does get snatched and taken north !
You guys are working it nicely and its fun to watch !
recognise the odd one but ya wont get me coming out when i know there are three of ya after it that are more local, but i'll keep watching and waiting to snatch the odd one !
Happy to work within boundaries !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

FWIW i have edited the rules to show that the tag has to be dropped in the local area.
This is how the Yanks play it,so each game stays within the original State or area it was started in.
Its a cool idea to steal a tag,but whilst the theif can claim it we just continue to play otherwise we will be in a holding pattern till we can get it back, and thats no fun.I guess a side game could start where tags are stolen and retreived, but the main games have to go on I reckon.

So. Is Masterton fair game at this time of year or are you stopping at the top of the hill until summer?

That sounds like an awesome idea. Our game is very close to home at the moment but this would be good way of getting some BIG rides in.

i reckon we start a game called steal the tag where say the Auckland guys do steal our tag. They post the steal on the "steal our tag thread"The main game continues as normal. However the Auckland guys post up OUR new tag which coincides with a certain Auckland Tag.our task is to then follow the auckland game from that point until we can steal our tag back. The new Auckland tag which coincides with a normal Auckland tag is posted in the auckland game AND on the "steal our tag" thread. When we steal the tag back its posted on the auckland game thread AND the steal our tag thread. The normal Aucklaners ignore this grab however and the the first normal Aucklander to grab the tag continues the Auckland game as normal.Does this make sense.I have confused myself a little!

Sounds good - I think. Would like to play too but there's a slight impediment called Cook Strait - bugger.

Then the Welly crew could be tasked to steal it back and pass it back up the country.

    How about this then:

We could start a 'lets pass the tag around the country'. Start in Welly, post it close enough so that the HB crew can reach it. They then pass it up Norf and we see if we can get it right around the country.
We could even have an actual KB flag which is dropped and picked up with photo's to show the drop/pickup. (must have the flag and the bike in the picture).

And when it get towards summer, it can go back around with drop offs in more extreme places like the bottom of the ski lifts on the ski fields etc.

We would of course need to clear it with Spankme if we were to use a flag with the KB logo on.
