    Honda CRF150R

Can anyone tell me the positives and negatives of a CRF150R? My 250X is just too heavy. This one is only 80ks as opposed to 115ks. I'm worried about the smaller wheels on the woops. Help???

Reckon thats a good choice, if i had my time again that what i would have got my mrs .
Not sluggish farm like 150f but still nice and light and preety quick I think, never ridden one tho.
How bout a 125 with flywheel weight? 90 odd kilos. and quick. the weight would help with trails.

being a 4stroke MX bike regular maintenance is the most important, but should be sweet you will deferentially notice the power delivery over the 250X go girl.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

I'd love to have a go if you get one!
150r was one the choices I was looking at after the dr-z. They seem pretty cool, but also seem to have had quite a few probs with bits breaking on the 07 (I think?) ones.

Thanks for that. Can you explain about the power delivery? I won't notice the lack of power then over the 250X? Escuse my ignorance, only been riding 16 months and get all confused with power! Don't want to make a mistake and buy the wrong bike! I just can't pick up the 250X. I've been told it's a bit of an 'orphan' whatever that means!

Of course you can have a ride Spiked Punch. I need to organise a ride on one, but I don't know whether Honda are that keen to let them be taken out on a test drive. Might ask them.

Are you set on getting a 4 stroke? Or would you consider a 2 stroke?

    Don't go backwards, go forwards.
Do you know Caryn Henderson? Perhaps you should try to score a ride on her lowered KTM125 EXC. She loves it, its a ton lighter than your $ stroke and you won't be taking a step backwards power wise, light two strokes rule in the sands and twisty trails of Woodhill forest and a big wheel will roll over the terrain much more effectively than a small wheel. I can't think of a better bike for your situation. Think we might have had this conversation before though before you bought that top heavy monster?

Twice the displacement, twice the cost and a decibel problem, I'll pass on the inside brraaaap!!!

those 150's are very unreliable. Something about the crank in them i think... they blow a lot. The 07's were also recalled due to a weak weld on the swingarm which snaps and ends up with big trouble, so if you do end up looking for one and its an 07 make sure the swingarm has been replaced

I wouldn't recommend a 125 for the trails for you even with a fly wheel weight they are hard work to keep in the rev zone and I think it will take some of the fun away. Just my 2c.

    150Kg's for a 250X that sounds heavy??

Unfortunatly your finding a big big hole in the market like every other lady, teenager, learner, shorter bloke etc etc.

You might like to look at the Ktm200exc, 125 size frame, 2 stroke maintanance, adjustable power valve (so you can make the power how you want), exc torque (Low down power) is better than any other 2 stroke in the trails and forests. I only suggest the 200exc as your coming off a 250x.

Here went to the Honda site for you.
    CRF250x 114Kg seat height 958mm
    Crf150R 84.4kg seat height 866mm
    09 Ktm 125 exc 97kg seat height 985mm
    08 Ktm200exc 97Kg seat height 925mm

Ktm do have a 105cc and a 150cc but they are new?

I've not riden a 150R but after your 250 you will notice reduced power but that can be a good thing sometimes. You might find going to a smaller slightly less powerfiul bike (the 150R) benifits your ridng more than anything, don't get hung up with big numbers on the side of the bike it means nothing!
If your riding the 250x ok you should find the seat heights on the others ok, although SDG do a stepped seat or you can cut and recover the one on the bike.
Just a few suggestions up to you good luck, but go ride them first!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

how much power can youloose i rode a crf250x a while back on the mr motorcycles rides dude couldnt get it up a hill. But if the 150 has much less than that thing you would be better off with a push bike. proberly didnt help id just trashed mine up the same hill but still.
Same gose for the 125 rode mine over the weekend !st time we had it out and hey its up for sale lack of power for me nice and quick but as other have said you have to ride them hard to get that out of them.

my mrs had the same issue, she now has a cr85,

though she hasnt ridden anywhere serious yet as shes now up the duff. jammed a flywheel weight on it and she loves it. so light.

im not sure how she will go on steep steep stuff, but should be fine. will definately be fine around auckland as all the trails are so flat
