Another frosty morning in Karaka so I thought I'd try something new to save the ends of my fingers and thumbs (I still don't have heated grips). I found a pair of the wife's Ansell cleaning gloves - they are like a fine rubber membrane. I put these on first, then a pair of Icebreaker under-gloves which are also a fine material. Then I put on the Rev-It winter gloves. It made a huge difference and my 40km commute wasn't so hard on the fingers and thumbs this morning.

I have thought of doing this before but haven't got round to it. After this mornings cold finger tips I think its time to give it a try.

Only thing is I think you might get better results by putting glove linner on first -> robber glove -> normal glove. This way you will trap more air in you hand which should improve insulation.

Will try it if Monday is cold enough.

$10 polyprop gloves from doggirldon't do the job for me!

I work in a chiller/freezer all day long and my hands are never cold with the gloves we use. It's a shame i would need to buy XXXXXXL motorcycle gloves to fit them over the top!

My summer gloves and naked bike work fine.

Every stop light means hands onto sides of engine, don't care if they burn
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

That sounds great for keeping warm however I find that rubber stops my fingers from breathing and I feel very uncomfortable.

I find that gloves on the towel rail do the trick for me and once warm I don't get cold again.

try breathing through your nose instead,.

I find heated grips are ok but the back of your hands still get damn cold. And then every time you use the clutch or brake its like grabbing an iceblock.

You can get cheap polyprop/cotton thermals from the army surplus stores around NZ (some have websites and online ordering and everything!). That's how I got the hobo-gloves that I wear to keep my fingers from getting cold and stiff in the mornings.
