    scuse me....what is a speedlimit...?

oh, could you please direct me to the Kiwi biker forum?...
I somehow mistakenly ended up on this thread here...
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

Was not directed at you. I thought the extra spacing between paragraphs would show that, seems that part was not clear.

No you don't. You drive an old BMC Mini.

But, a clapped out one apparently

Top speed of the very first Issigonis Mini (with a breathtaking 33bhp ) was 70mph. That's around 115kph. Mini Cooper 1275S , 97 mph (155kph).

Indeed, however at that speed the engine is not near it's redline (you cannot reach redline in top gear due to aerodynamics limiting the top speed). What does limit the speed is the amount of oil that begins to pass through the rings creating a rather nasty smoke cloud behind me.. I would much prefer to have a working engine than one that has blown up because of it's age.

I dont think I am particularly disorganised either, remember my time frames, had to be there 7:30, left at 4:10. Now even allowing for my failed maths skills I left 3.75 hours to make a 2.5 hour trip.

I have a huge tolerance for other road users and their ancient, smokey old bombs and have never, ever tailgated them or made an unsafe passing manouver either.

I can however, see that some might get really frustrated and do that. Meh, dont drive on main arterial routes at 20 or better kph under the speed limit is my response. Find another route, or upgrade your vehicle. If you can do neither, then get up to speed and drive.
Generally when you go fast you tend to catch up with other traffic so you have to slow down..speed up later and so on so you are right Mum you generally don't get there much quicker.

Back in UK is used to visit my mate in Wolverhampton..I used to leave for London about 2am on the Monday..after 4 pints of coke...what I found was that if I cruised at 90mph I got tired quicker (in a car) - due to concentration levels so I decided to cruise at 75/80 moph so I was overtaking pulling back in etc and it took me not a lot longer to get home..even going through London and I was not feeling sleepy

All cars are hazards, hell, all vehicles sharing the road are hazards, and ones travelling at disproportionate speeds be it fast or slow are even more of a hazard.

There are too many slow and ignorant drivers on the road....most of them seem to be totally unaware of whatever is going on around them.....never looking in their mirrors...just tunnel vision....the cops should be ticketing these dangerous morons...driving well under the speed limit causes frustrated drivers to take risks that they would not normally take......speeding may be dangerous but so are slow idiots...I often feel like running them off the road ,when Im in my cage.Which I dont actually do..

Get a real bike and not a moped to drive around with and you can pass them in a second.

If I get the chance to safely overtake someone who is doing something like 80kmh in a 100 zone for no apparent justifiable reason, then I go 60kmh in front of them so they can see how it feels. And then they always seem to tailgate me for some reason.

The 80km/h ones are there to catch people speeding. For instance, from Orewa to Matakana. No reason at all for it to be an 80 on the open parts, apart from the ginga cop to nick people above the artificially low limit.

Stop.. Look.. Listen.. Think.. that'll stop them getting run over.

Despite what the queers with quiet cans say, the cars part for a slightly louder exhaust note.

I have a seething hatred for tourists driving on roads towards famous beaches here in NZ. When they fully brake to nearly stationary speed in the middle of the bend. bleh well this world isnt perfect

Sorry but why get frustrated....that is exactly the problem with drivers in NZ....regardless there is no excuse or justification to take risks because you are frustrated.

The speed limit is a maximum...doesn't mean you have to travel at the MAXIMUM....is this simple concept hard to comprehend.....

But why exactly.....what ever happened to the world renown Kiwi's

In a survey of the OECD amongst 30 democratic nations, New Zealand ranked an above-average 8th place in terms of the happiness of its populace (defined by the averaged responses to questions about personal contentment and positive feelings experienced recently) even though the country was noted as ranking relatively low amongst the surveyed nations in personal wealth (defined by averaged personal income

    clearly not in a car......
