    VMAX acceleration

This month NZ Autocar has tested the new Yamaha VMAX, and it has become the fastest accelerating bike they have ever tested.

    (pointless but fun)
    0-100kph: 2.88s (previous record 3.34s by 2008 Hayabusa)
    80-120kph (effectively time to pass): 1.09s (previous 1.13s by K9 GSXR1000)

    no 400m test.

Funnily enough the GSX1400 is not listed in their top10 for 0-100kph

They also did a 100kph to 0 stop test on the lastest CBR600rr (with ABS) - obtained 41.66m: Makes an interesting comparison to a std Mazda 3 hatch ~32m...
Although not unexpected (2 contact patches vs 4), many bikers in my experience live under the illusion they can outbrake a car.

I recall someone on here reckoning they could go from 60kph to zero in 2 metres on a 250. I don't think a brick wall was involved either.

I think the gsx1400 wasn't in the top ten because it is an overweight under powered wheeled boat. Sexy looking toy though

Reckon the VMax's acceleration would be limited by tyre traction (even the 200/50 !!) more than anything else.

What a bugger that it takes a car mag to give us performance times of a bike lol.
Wonder if the ABS models takes longer to brake than the non ABS ones, might have to buy the mag and have a geeze.

Many bikers are deluded about how quickly they can stop a bike.
    Here for the ride.

So does that take half the fuel tank or most of the fuel tank to get to that speed?

Well, they didn't test one then did they?
A standard GSX1400 with yoshi exhaust system did 0-100kmh in 2.6 seconds, faster than any production vehicle of any sort in the world.

I have a video clip of quite a few bikes and cars for comparo and a GSX1400 with a full Yoshi exhaust system does the 0-100kmh in exactly 2.57 seconds.

They are no slouch with heaps of low end torque. And yes, the new Bugaati Veyron is the only production vehicle to crack the GSX1400 0-100kmh time.

The GSX1400 is based on the 80's superbikes. It will always look good and is reaching cult status.

Did I tell you I like them???.....
