We order 200KG printers from factory in China and they arrive within 3-weeks..... can't take 5-weeks for a swing arm mate - im sure there is a "reasonable period of time" clause in your insurance cover for repair or something?
Factory backorder means its waiting to be made and the bike manufacturer is out of stock. Production runs are scheduled when they are scheduled and its also about materials procurement. Last year we were waiting for a new Ohlins product and the delay ran to 6 months, simply because Ohlins couldnt source the raw material. There are many things like that that are unavoidable.
For the second incident blame the courier company, a lot of these idiots seemingly delight in how far they can throw packages.
Seems a little (ok a lot) strange to me,the exact model hasnt been mentioned but out of interest was the swingarm changed from the 08 model?Call me cynical but i doubt this has anything to with the factory not having a swingarm to send.Not to mention that i would imagine it had plenty of packing round it,cant imagine that simply dropping it would harm anything or even mark it.
Be the person your dog thinks you are...
cost of swingarm = $19 USD
Shipping to australia (I asssume NZ will be similar price) = $90 USD
Total = ~$109 USD = ~ $172.40 NZD

The solutions to your problem are all here in this thread. And we could even provide you with advise re better insurance companies, better places to take the bike to be fixed next time you crash and how not to crash...
But are you taking any of this in or are you just seeking attention?
What have you done as a result of this thread to sort the issue?
The law (CGA) states that parts must be reasonably available for goods sold to consumers in New Zealand.
Is 16 weeks 'reasonably available' for the swingarm on a 2009 common mass produced motorcycle? Not really. It's a case for the disputes tribunal... I mean, it's costing you in alternative transport arrangements isn't it?
