What was the problem with it? You seriously gotta sort out that kickstarter.. was so hard to kick lol.
Small world eh ! Thanks heaps for the help!! Same goes to the organisers, jerry rigging a tow rope out of that ktm caution tape was genius! I will pack tow rope and wire cutters in the future, thought I kept a pretty thorough camelback until today, haha. I'll let krad come on here and theorise about why what happened happened, got some theories but nothing solid. Compressions sweet and it was sparking so who knows for sure.
Kickstarter is the bane of my existance...But it's normally easy to start And to everyone who mentioned it today, yeah it's getting a new chain and spockets this week GEEZ
It was a cool ride, nice and flowy, I was having a good time until the bike died! So glad it's going now, was freaking out/packing a sad about having to miss two man

Thanks to A&R for giving us a lift, Grace and Sophie had a cool ride today while I hung round watching. Either the tracks are getting tamer or the riders are getting better cause the St Johns looked bored......

    Not riding sucks.....

Roll on next Sunday for the two man............

Yeah and it really sucks not to be able to play with the camera either.. Double whammy.........

The girls are really getting into the riding and have been around the tracks long enough now to feel part of the crowd. It's so cool to see them catching up with riding mates and not needing Dad with them all the time.. I guess they're growing up...

They got stuck in to cleaning the bikes as soon as they got home and are on a motorcycling high.... Don't let anyone ever tell you this isn't a great family activity.....

Theory behind SpikedPunch's bike dying is....

First and foremost apparently she punted into stump and fell over as a result. From this point onwards no one could get the bike going. She changed the plug in field all by herself (impressed, I must have done something right) thinking it was fouled. Usually you know when you foul a plug, it sort of dribbles to a halt, wheezing and spluttering. In this case a sharp bump had caused it cut out suddenly apparently.

When we got it back on the trailer noobie and I had a go at checking for spark and fiddling with the HT lead. Didn't seem to make any spark, and the HT lead seemed ok. Noobie noticed that both her spark plugs didn't have the end caps on them that seat into the end of the HT lead. I suspect this was the problem all along. It must have been a marginal connection from the start and an unlucky off must have shook it loose. When I removed the new plug she had put in I noticed it was fairly loose resulting in reduced compression perhaps which wouldn't have helped things.

Was just about the pull the carbi out and clean things out when I tried mashing the HT lead onto the threaded spark plug end one more time. Worked!

New plugs at $7-8/each WITH end caps = priceless.

Hope your wrist is sweet noobi, sounded like a you had a bad off. Thanks Vassa for helping Sacha out!

Good ride over all. Didn't enjoy the slow technical bit in the middle of the 25k loop though. Usually I like that stuff not this time though. Fell off a few times which is unusual for me. Normally I stay on two wheels. I think I was used to the sand slowing me down, but I had to remember that I need to use the brakes now

Hey Noobi. Mmmm, that featherlight clutch was a pleasure to fondle. Katoom has a hydraulic clutch but it's a long way off being a genuine one finger job. Think I'll take a look at it.
I figured you guys must have taken the left fork. Nice to be able to jump on KB to debrief/square things up and hopefully avoid looking like a rude R-Sole! With my sense of direction I'm surprised I found the long way round second time. When I ride I'm in tunnel vision mode focussing 100% on the track & I often miss arrows/options - usually crossed arrows lol/ouch.

I enjoyed the extra tighter stuff added this course, especially through the toi-toi. A good challenge variation trying to keep a good pace as well as read course direction through that. Krad, I noticed the underside (white) of toi-toi leaves on the ground looked a lot like the white tree roots...

    Waitemata ride 19th July

Great ride. Did anyone get caught out on the "expert only" bit at the 10k marker?
Seen the little sandy hill, thought yep looks no probs., got over the top and : ........ landed in a heap with bike carrying on without me got up nothing broken just a couple bruises - so ok for the 2 man next week . It was just a 8 foot hill with a peak but vertical drop on the down side caught me out a cropper.
Next time someone posts one of these on a ride I'll have a look over the hill before I ride over it. I guess someone had some some fun marking this one up! (Billaroo?)
I bet there was more than one pile up there too. Would have been a good place to catch some camera footage.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

Guilty as charged- I like technical little bits like that- although there were a few that had issues it got easier as the day went on.
