Sounds like the HT wires inside the lead are a bit stuffed. IF you have enough lead, cut 10mm or so off the end then gently rescrew the cap into the Ht lead so you have newer wires for a good connection around the threaded screw in the cap or it may fail again!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

I think the problem was a lack of terminal post on the top of the plug...

Jst outta interest why was yours missing not only on the plug in there but also your spare? I have to remove it off mine so it fits my bike but they're done up bloody tight - need plyers to undo it.

Spare came with bike, you'd have to ask the fulla who had it before me... I'd taken the sparky out and cleaned it before, but not having an intimate knowledge of the things had no idea there was something missing!
Edit: On the positive side, owning second hand bikes with things constantly going kaboom on them has been a great crash course in motorcycle knowledge. I can do all sorts of things I had no idea about before

Probably was touching just enough to be okay. I might have done it up a bit loose or whatnot last time it came out (when we did top end) and smacking the stump was just the right force to knock it loose.

I would be surprised if you were meant to run them like that on a new kx250f. I suspect you should probably find some terminal posts.

I knew I should have checked the spark plug after you had tightened it! Haha, you gotta make sure they're really tight huh. =)

I've had the end come off too. It was on an old as Honda though and god only knows how long the plug had been in there for.
