I would have maybe not boozed away so much money in my 20s! and bought something like a house in the Wairarapa as an investment

I could say the same about my wife, last year. But, what will be must be.

You're right, I do have plenty of time. But that's the beauty of hardwork - options & opprtunity. Something that a dried up bitter deadbeat like you doesn't have.

Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

Stolen from the song "Turning thirty" by Randy Stonehill...

i've got a house down by the ocean
the rent is not too high
and i love to watch the ships come in
    and hear the seagulls cry
and lately i've been taking stock
of all that i've been through
    oh tomorrow is my birthday
    feels funny but it's true
    i'm turning thirty
now i've got a wife who really loves me
she makes my life so sweet
    and a little baby daughter
who plays games around my feet
and my world is very different
    from lost lazy bachelor years
but if i had the chance to go back
    i'd rather stay right here
    turning thirty
and i have friends who care about me
they're the best i've ever had
and they always stood behind me
    whenever times got bad
and i love to play my music
though the road can be at trial
but every time i walk on stage
    it's worth each dusty mile
    turning thirty
well, now thirty ain't like fifteen
    and it's not like twenty-five
    my back's a little stiff
and there're some lines around my eyes
but i've still got my energy
and i've got most of my hair
and i'm not too old to rock 'n roll
    and i'm not really scared
    of turning thirty

Seemed to apply when I was contemplating turning 30. That was a few years ago now. Kids are older, but yeah, If I had the chance to go back, I'd rather stay right here.

I'm not nearly as old as you lot, only had 25 years, and haven't fucked them up too badly...

I would have avoided GiJoe... that way, my bikes wouldn't have so many kilometres on them and I wouldn't keep getting called crazy

Exactly Finn, cause your so deperate on the dole and homeless aye

I am young at 25...plenty of life ahead of me yet, so don't really want to change anything yet.
I suppose the two careers I would have loved that aren't really options to me anymore is orthopaedic surgery and military jet pilot ( missus won't relocate to Aussie and to be honest I would rather go down the entrepreneurial path anyway. Would have loved those, but I will be a bit too old if I started nowadays...the Mrs will want to kill me since she won't be able to have mini-Bretts.

The biggest regrets in life are for the the things you never did.

Turn Back The Clock by Johnny Hates Jazz is another great song.

And if you haven't heard Johnny Hates Jazz then you're missing out on some good music.

I Don't Want To Be A Hero is a great anti war song especially the words. These songs have to be 20 years old now.

    On a serious note I've enjoyed my life immensely. If there was one thing I'd change besides getting a bike sooner it would be to;

    - Think about the skills I have, strengths and weaknesses and then take time to fix the weaknesses. I would have still made mistakes but my life would have been very different and I suspect I would have progressed through the various stages to where I am now much sooner.

And of course I could still do that now rather than later.
