If its already fucked, then cut it off with a cutting disc.

A 3 legged puller is what bent it.

I'm not sure why it broke in the first place, but it managed to shear the 6 rivets holding the flywheel on to that plate.

The rivots may have been damaged from pulling on the outside of the flywheel at some stage , i had a DT do that and managed to get the hub off(with the correct puller) and tap threads it, fit cap screws with loctite and nylock nuts and put the flywheel back on the flywheel hub, Bit off mucking about but didnt have a spare. I was just lucky the magnets wernt broken. Thats the nasty cracking noise you here when they bend with a 3 leg puller lol

    No.

Any more yanking on that with the puller and you will fuck the whole shaft. Dont do it.

Get a little angle grinder and put a thin cutting disc in it. Put some earplugs in, safety glasses on, and get some gloves on, and get comfy in a chair, and sit there and little by little grind away at it under it drops off.

You will be surprised how easy it is, and you wont bend anything.

Serious. It sounds horrific but its actually quite delicate. JUST TAKE YOUR TIME.

Make three cuts. First the green and the red cuts, then make the blue cut, then go back and deepen the green and red cuts.

Use a thin cutting disc, not a grinding disc. Don't worry about heat build-up that will help you, not hinder you.

Hold the grinder firmly with both hands or the fucker will bite and leap at you. Wear some thick jacket or similar.

Don't cut deep into the shaft. If you nick the shaft don't panic - it wont hurt it greatly. Remove the stator coil, and anything else in the way.

Either the threaded puller, or a three leg through the bolt holes (not behind the rim like pulling a gear) will get it off for sure.

You have to screw the puller up REAL tight, then dob it a crafty sharp wallop with the BLOODY BIG HAMMER. You must use a BIG hammer, one sharp hard blow dead central, not bash the bejasus out of it with a tack hammer.

Retighten if necessary, and belt it again. Rinse lather repeat.

Yeah right , buy the correct puller and you can use it again and again , a grinder only works once and you have much more chance of cutting into your crank and FUCKING IT

If you pull on that really hard you will wreck the threaded part, if you haven't already.

Heat is fine, but you will likely zap something nearby if you are using oxy/acet. Make a mask out of a bit of tin, and slip it over the shaft.

The safest way by far is to carefully machine it off. It will be done in ten minutes. It doesnt matter if you nick the shaft, as long as you don't whack a deep gouge in it.
