Resources for the Absolute Beginner

Hey all,

For the last few years i've been humming and haring about getting my bike license and finally bite the bullet and did it.

The thing is, I know didly squat about bikes (bar the fact there is a lot to know/learn about maintaining them). So what I was wondering is was is there a stack of resources somewhere which can help prep me for my first bike purchase.

I'm not really talking about what bike to get (as from what I understand that is more of a personal preference) but more what's involved once I have one. Although information on how old is to old and how high KM's is to high etc would be handy. Also things like: Servicing milestones/costs, engine rebuilds/costs, and other hidden aspects that beginners just don't consider.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

This forum is a wealth of information. Firstly, use the search button and look for old threads that might contain what you're looking for. If you can't find the info, just ask. Make sure you take the responses with a grain of salt though and don't worry about people hijacking your thread to abuse each other
