Why is it so hard to sell a bike?

why is it so hard to sell a bike these days, the last one I sold took 3 days to be gone! But, alas, the mighty spada is not selling. Buy it, am getting a new bike

REading your advert, you sound like the kind of person to take care of a machine (regular oil change / servicing etc...).

    Could be:
The mileage (yes - I know a well maintained bike this is not an issue but can put potential buyers off)
    We are in winter
You live out of town therefore less buyers and less people willing to take a punt over the net.

I don't think the price is unreasonable given it is a spada. Getting the seat repaired / recovered may help.

Just a thought... do you have the original front end bits incase the new owner wants to take it back to stock? Can't remember from your ad whether you mentioned...

Dunno. Looks good, price seems fair.
Possibly, like me, some buyers aren't interested in bikes that have been altered from standard for whatever reason and yours has had quite a bit done. Just a thought.

it could be because not many people want to own this particular bike, or in less polite terms ( with love ) its a faggy little piece of shit, which is why you want rid of it I guess.

    try advertising it a scary

    best of luck

Everybody seems to want to buy at bargain prices but sell their shit for a fortune. That said, I wouldn't be too quick to reduce the price. The right buyer might be just around the corner. Don't let the slow start make you mentally devalue your bike.

I don't think I am asking too much for the spada.... It's a very tidy bike with the exception of the seat, which happens to be $90 I am not willing to spend when I have a new toy on the way.
I can see the faggy piece of shit part there, but I don't think that's fair, find a more forgiving 250, or one that's easier to ride.
I can understand the being modified part though, I myself tend to steer towards a blank canvas.
I have consistently worked towards building the ideal 250 [not ultimate, a spada wouldn't manage] and I think I have achieved it. I must get new piccys up though, shes changed yet again. Thanks for the opinions.

I only have the original mudgaurd here now, the standard light are absolutely hopeless. But I can remove the fairing and mounts as I think I have stated in the ad.
50km isn't too high on one of these [unless you get the dreaded camchain rattle] if you use the right oil it will last well over 100km. Ask gatch, I have his old motor in my workshop, it went pop at 123km

I agree that a fresh listing will always drag in new buyers, sell it hard by talking up what YOU like about it and how badly you wish you didn't have to sell it.

But it's not going to be easy to sell a bike that's pre-90's, it's hard enough to sell one pre 2000 in general.

    Some good advice already listed

I thought you were being honest, I would rather know the good and bad points and it saves trouble later because you have the auction to reference if there are any dispites regarding condition etc.

List as many pics as they let you for free (20?) as mentioned already.

The price is fair, but it's the non standard parts/paintwork that made me think crash damage- and that was before I read your post as I had seen the add a while back- just my opinion at the time when I first saw it.
Good luck, sometimes when a bike is not moving you take a deep breath, make the add and pictures as good as you can and put it on for $1

And worry yourself sick for 2 weeks

If you want honest feed-back- Remove the fairing, get the bike looking as stock as possible. Don't mention mods, spares or anything else that tells buyers you have been fooling around with it. Leave out the personal stories about your condition, and all the excuses and blather.
Put up a new listing, with new pictures without the modified items, as far as possible.
    Just my thoughts.
