Not always, we had a case last year outside uni on the busy main road (4 lanes, 2,2). Car on the side of the road. Bike with pillion passenger coming down the road. Car suddenly did a u-turn in front of the bike. Not a chance...

Later, the driver said he/she never saw the bike. Either one or both on bike dead. Don't know all the details, but thats the basics, and no fault from the rider.

    Glad you're OK (relatively)

Hi HR - really sorry to hear about this. Very glad you're more or less okay, and I hope the driver gets her just desserts.

Please keep us posted on what happens.

Best of luck to you getting your bike sorted out quickly, hopefully the insurance company wont dick you around.

And I hope that dumbass who did the uturn in front of you wakes up this morning with the most wicked fucking hangover in the world ever, with the driest throat and an extreme case of the shits!!!

    Ouch...

Thats a real bastard mate... You really can't believe that people can still be so frigging dumb as to drive a car with no plates / stickers etc and have booze open in the car, regardless of their actual state. I mean what are the chances of being stopped right? It must go up 1 billion per cent... I mean, what goes on inside their heads?? (no cancel that - I don't want to know)

Taking that into account, I guess it could have been a LOT worse, a second later and she would have T boned you...

Any way, my guess is you are dealing with the shallow end of the gene pool here at low tide and after a long drought so this might take a while to sort out. Good luck.

    Thumbs up

Glad to hear you're ok and they've now located the braud. What could have turned very messy should at least be more tollerable now with the insurance paying out, short of it having not happend at all.

Out of interest, do you ride with the headlight(s) on?

Heh, that joker with the camera must have been screwed in the past to be so helpful and on the ball

Gutted to hear of your bike, glad you're not too injured and glad the cops got the drunken bitch, hope she loses her car and her licence. Good to hear the Insurance co will pay out now and it won't cost you an excess.

I'd've made sure she was incapable of walking away - after having some JAFA U-turn in front of me, flee the scene and get away with it (because the MOT (yep, back in those days) didn't take kindly to some scummy, second-rate-citizen bikie interrupting their important game of darts and whinging about an accident) I feel rather inclined towards ensuring the bastard is incapable of escaping afterwards.

Take care HR. All the best getting your wheels sorted, hope you're not too sore.

Yes usually on full and I was wearing aHi viz jacket over the leathers.

Second time a drunk has taken my bike out, and around here there are always police checks and plain clothes patroling, would have been nice if they had stopped her rather than me though.

    Just saw this- stink!!!
On the upside, they do at least have her and she'll get done, you get your insurance etc. And (as has been pointed out) you're not too badly hurt.
    (Still stink, though...)
