Hmmm, I was pushing it hard...that's partly why I struggle to grasp your magnificent 285km effort??Originally Posted by bugjuice
You must fit that onboard camera next time!
wish I could have put the cam on the bike to prove it, but then the cam would be in the way of the tank upon which I rest me nuggin.. So might have to look at lipstick cams or something.. or just trust me word..Originally Posted by Zed

Congrats on the nice flashing x btw.![]()
actually, I am going to find out how much it'll cost to find out how accurate it is. Then I can really know for sure, but I also want to find out the calculation for various rear/front sprocket combos too. Bit of work involved, so might not. One bit at a time.. Anyone know who does calibration and how much it is? I'd rather not go past HP at 150 then see what the ticket says...Originally Posted by Zed

200 with the Bandit on a closed road with safety officials and medical assistance at hand. (Yeah Right)
Roll on in 5th, sitting upright.
215 - 220 on an '83 GPz750, top speed comparison with a Honda V4 750. (He lost)
Cages; 210 in a Ferrari Dino 246 and 220 in a '90 Honda Prelude.
About speedos; I use a bike computer which is accurate to within 1/2 km/h.
On Sunday a guy I was riding with was surprised at my contempt for speed limits.
His speedo was reading 120 - 125 when I was at 110.
For some real world figures, here are the results from the East West Sprints from last year:
http://www.cdd.co.nz/sprint/EastWest...ltsNov2004.htm
My flying 1/4 was measured at 232km/h, my speedo was indicating around the 250km/h mark.
286k sitting up down my race track , 302k lying flat on he tank coming back . Nice bit of road very smooth very straight !!

" QUICKER THAN YOU SLOWER THAN ME "
I hate to tell you this BJ but When I was doing 1.05s Around Pukie at the Nats, I was clocked doing 246-247 max speed by the trasnponder so that is the *actual* speed I got up to. Mind you the gearing was a bit wrong and I was on the limiter when I was just past the kink, wasting seconds and possibly more top speed that I could have gotten out of the bike. Never mind though, that's another story...
I've been as fast as redline in top gear will allow me, though that isn't really much of an achievement on my bike.
not quite sure how to reply really. I understand what you're saying. Me mate who races a ZX10 was saying how he would pass 300 on the back straight and they're doing something around 58/59, so 30 odd k off (on average from 300) for the last bit of the straight (which isn't that far), and a dodgey hairpin would put times way off..Originally Posted by Motoracer
I'll get it calibrated to find out the diff, and will see about getting some straight-line testing done too, see what the speedo max's out at. Give me more of an idea..
and a hell orange streak you were too as you swept past... from the pits, both the zx-6rs looked damned fast.Originally Posted by bugjuice
i could only squeeze 271 outa my 03 R6SR at just past the kink - that was up on the red in 6th, but with an extra 3 teeth on the rear sprocket it's dropped a few k's off the top end, and also put my speedo out by an estimated 7% *shrug*
I would really like to get hold of a radar for an arvo and have a play with different ratios to see just how much difference it makes.
Lets go hijack all their camels... and crash them into their tents :raghead:
250 (plus a bit) at Pukekohe...
I couldn't stop smiling for the rest fo the day...
I also had a lot of trouble keeping it under 120 on the Southern MW home...
damn it were fun though... must do it again sometime...

I have to say it'd be fun to officially arrange a long bit of straight road to be opened for just this - see what your bike tops out at.
Foxton Straights, Southern MW (Northbound from the foot of the bombays)... there are a couple of roads that I can think of - oiooo it'd be fun!
All the police out there - how would I set up something like that - what planning and permissions do I need to get?
