Ahhh i knew i had read something about a gixxer stand being used... now i remember where. Interesting idea, but have you spun the bike on the sidestand yet to test it for strength? Plus you've had the Ape lowered for the mrs aintcha?

It's been one of those things that's been on the list for a while... I bought the original Bubsywoo sidestand, the guy off of AF1 from the UK and it really made the Prila feel stable... the problem was that there wasn't enough strength in it, so when the shop span her on her side stand it snapped... luckily i was there at the time and mentioned that it might do that... I didn't bother getting another one after that and figured that something custom made might do the trick... that and i want to let the air out of the tyre to make sure she won't fall over if she's got a puncture...

No did not spin it on the side stand, but honstly when we modifyed the stock ape stand last year, what we did when we choped it we put a metal rod thru the stand, so the stand wasn't hollow any more. And the welds are stronger than stock welds, was done a fully quilifered mechniall enginerer.

if you score the gixxer stand can do the welding etc for you, if you don't have someone down there you know who can weld.

    Its pretty simple process
cut ape stand where the weld that joins to where bolts
    weld gixxer stand on
move the Pin that holds the spring down about 1"
    and bobs your uncle.

Means the sidestand light still works, does not flick stand up to much to hit stand. since you could just pull ape stand off and fit gixxer stand, but we went this route instead.

    yes ape is lowered

can't you get that other stand fixed & strengthen?

aka put a rod of metal thru stand so makes it alot more solid unit, and less prone to flexing etc

I'll have a hunt around the garage and see if I kept it... thanks for the offers of welding services... but I have most likely slung it...

It does need looking at though, it's a real POS considering the rest of the bike is stunnin (eye of the beholder ya'll)... The only reason i haven't pursued it any further is that I have a nice little corner for the Prila to hide in these days and she doesn't really see wind anymore...

Good to see you is well there John, was wondering if you had buried yer plane into the side of a hill...
