Yeah ,the CCC loop sounds better, you got any plans on doing it soon transalper?
Could probably manage a slightly cut down version in the near future.
Reluctant to use Limestone Rd at the moment in case it's full of Lambs.
There is still a reasonable shingle road there that goes around the propertys Limestone runs through.
Limestone is just a bit greener and a little more technical.
Got no issue with the rest of the loop... although once we did a private extension which we paid for access to which was cool but we was already tired by then.

My Daughter will be down from Hastings that weekend (3rd Oct). I wonder if she'd be interested and could handle what ever you have in mine (I think I know where you trying to go with the phone call needed) bearing in mind she ain't been on the back in over a year.
Also looks like J is busy on the 19th September which means I'll probably be free to ride (ahhh it's Saturday again SBirdman).

+1. There was quite a few lambs on Random Spur Rd (southern end) when I went through a few weeks ago as well. Thought I might have to do a bit of sheparding to get mum and one lamb back to the other lamb (twins) but it all turned out OK. I grew up on a farm and spent all the august/september holidays lambing but if your not so confident with the blond ones I'd suggest you leave them alone. (I sold the velcro gloves a few years ago!)
Damn. Not good I was thinking this would be a good one for D to have a go at on the Tranny.
Round the Mt. She should be fine if she can handle the longer time frames. I'll have a spare nice comfy seat if you got desperate. Still trying to get hold of the second farmer. I'll post more when I do.
Cheers R

My original plans (Rnd Mt Hutt) for the 3rd of august are a no go. Calving and Lambing are just getting into the swing of things and while one farmer doesn't mind the other would prefer we don't go through. If we all have spark arrestors he is not unhappy about us going through in summer or we could just do early autumn.
Alternative plans then - I'm thinking CCC loop. I know that lambing has been under way in that area for close on a month now so it will be fine to go through. I use to chase lambs on the quad when they were about a month oldand I can play farmer brown if need be.
So 3rd of Oct, 9am at the PEG and be ready for 300kms of riding. Mostly seal and gravel (some tight and windy with gates) but with about 10 kms of reasonably easy grass/dirt/clay and some ruts. This is a scenic trip not a knarly one so bring your camera.
See you all then.
Cheers R

A good Dad would buy my niece her own bike bro
May be getting down to the South next year (on a mainly road ride).
Although if I can outrun the wifes BoulevardI might get a chance to look at some Southern gravel

The PEG? As in Belfast Hotel just before the highway north? So 3rd of Oct, 9am at the PEG and be ready for 300kms of riding. Mostly seal and gravel (some tight and windy with gates) but with about 10 kms of reasonably easy grass/dirt/clay and some ruts. This is a scenic trip not a knarly one so bring your camera.
300Km? That's hitting the reserve on my DR650's horribly teensy 13l tank about 3 times. Are there refuel points?
What time do you expect to get back? (Here's hoping for lots of rest stops... they don't call DR's The Punishers of the Prostrate for nuthin.)
That's the ride all right.
It goes through Cheviot and Culverden, both have Fuel Stations.
The Peg is indeed the Belfast Tavern.
How long it takes depends upon who turns up.
Allow all day (home around tea time maybe) or bail on the seal half way through, it's up to you.
Will be good to finally meet you.
Hope my daughter's up for it, she's not in town often so it could be a bit hard on her butt as she's not acclimatised to the DR seat either. Back of DR seats aren't great either.

I use to do it no worries on the standard DR tank with one refuel at Cheviot. We dont ride continuously for the 300kms and there are plenty of gates to open etc so you should be fine seat wise. Its a good day out without being overly demanding technically or distance wise. I did it in about 4 hours about a month ago but it is more likely it will take us about 6 hours.
I'll have a nice plush pillion seat but then again I'm not sure my wife will be too impressed if I start pillioning young ladies around the place!
Cheers R
