    It must be summer

Seeing a lot more bikes on the road lately, so I guess it must be summer. All the fair weather riders must be getting their bikes out of winter storage, dusting them off and hitting the roads

I was just thinking that myself this morning. Even saw a courier guy on a cbr 2fitty wearing a t-shirt, so it definetly must be summer.

It certainly feels like it. Went for a tiki-tour on the back roads south of Karapiro today, and stopped for a nicotine fix on the banks of the Waikato in the sun. Mmmm mmmm.

Got out for the day round the Coromandel last Wednesday too.

Bethells is one of those places I always want to ride on a beautiful sunny day. I've been out there heaps, never on my bike though.

I hear that big corner before you come down to the creek crossing has caught more than a few bikers unaware. There used to be a hand painted sign there saying "Please! Slow down!" or something to that effect.

Yes a very viscious corner. A freind followed me out once and had to admit he would not have made it round if He had gone around at his normal speed.

Excellent short ride if you getto know the roads.

You have to watch out for locals using the road as an extension of their driveway but. Always kind of funny watching newbies freak out at the speed bumps though

Hell yeah. First place I took the FXR after the post-running-in service was down to Bethells. Lovely sunny day, musta been January this year I think. Scratchy scratchy got home a couple of hours late that night... that was the day I realised that I needed to get my toes up on the pegs when hitting tight corners.

Haven't been back since though. It's an lovely, evil little road

call me naughty but it's just so nice to ride without gloves. i took a corner yesterday that i can usually take quite quickly, and admit i felt a bit naked, and chickened out and slowed down. had to laugh though...softed out

    Unhappy What happened??

Bikers have always had a little wave of recognition as we fly passed each other, But I notice especially in Auckland this no longer seems to happen, has the country gotten larger all of a sudden.?

Still exists where I go riding. If its on the m'way thats not surprising as its not always easy to see the other rider

True. I suspect it's because of the whole 'dealing with traffic' thing. I tend to not wave or nod on my daily commute and most other bikers won't either, as far as I've noticed. I'm too busy trying to stay alive and unticketed. Apart from that, it's a bit impersonal when the other rider is 75m away from you going in the other direction down the motorway.

I think you'd find that the same riders would be happily waving away if they were on a 'fun' ride. I got a couple of waves yesterday heading out to Beachlands (it was a long lunch break
