Bloody correct there, when looking I asked if they had a demo, nope but can take another model v twin 1000,wtf I thought,no way was it similar in ride height, comfort etc, only thing was same engine size.Bandit pulls from top gear 50km if needed, great at 80km and passing.

I don't know what SV you were riding. SVs have the perfect fuel injection, matching and power delivery, no snatch pops or farts at all. Read any review they have one of the best V-twin motors in the world.
Why would other brands like Cagiva etc use the SV motor if it popped and farted. Its a "Suzuki" the motors are bullet proof.
SV1000s (year for year ) are over 40kg lighter than a Bandit, have more horsepower, and about same torque, and handle better, go figure what is the quickest........ I admit the Bandits develop torque a bit lower in the rev range.
Dont get me wrong Bandits are a bloody good bike, and I may buy another if I cant find another manufacturer that makes a reasonably priced V twin in years to come.
Im just stating the facts, as I see em.

The SV650 has a fantastic engine (even better in the DL650 under it's state of tune). That is the one that the Cagiva uses (for the baby rap). The big Cagiva uses what was the TL engine.
The SV1000 (and DL1000 of course) is known to have clutch basket issues which is evidenced by the shuddering (which gets progressively worse) at low revs. This is from idle to 3500 area. It's just the same on every SV1000 i've ridden (at least 3), not AS bad on the DL due to the tuning difference, but still here.
Neither of the 1000's (SV/DL) have spot on injection, the DL650 is pretty damn close though.

I have owned a 1200 Bandit for 4 years and it is a good tourer especially 2 up, but find the SV better solo tourer.
Reasons are the SV has easier top end power it runs on at high speed better than the bandit, it handles better, it is more fuel efficient, (I think so anyway.)
It is more fun to ride, has a much better sound (with Yoshis on ) is lighter to manoeuvre, Just seems to cover the miles easier.
I do have risers bars fitted to mine which makes it less wristy.
You do have to set them up to suit yourself, but once sorted their magic.
Overseas they were marketed as a sports tourer, not a sports bike or racer.
In my opinion a very underrated bike.
Not a Bandit with Racetech,Traxxion and Ohlins help. And +15 hp
