    Status of learner law changes?

A while ago there was some talk of scrapping the 250cc limit on the learner's/restricted license. Did anything ever come of this? I'm trying to decide whether or not I should sell my 250, and future changes in the 250cc market will help me make my decision.

I hear that it is due to happen in 2010. I have heard nothing official though. I am planning to upgrade before then, just incase.

Our government doesn't really have a reputation for making logical laws now does it?

the 250 cc limit was to go

but the government went instead and it was to be replaced by a horsepower limit
that was to exclude race bike 250s. but had a proposed upper limit of 660ccs
to allow for older low powered bikes

It will come again in my experiance what ever the LTNZ ( NZTA) want they get and it is just a matter of time.

IE lights on NOW in law Changes to Scooter licence tests from Dec 1 09
If you say either "I can" or "I can't" your correct.
