Ride what you like and can afford. Don't buy into the brand shit.

Buy a naked bike... it will be cheaper

Keep money for gear, don't blow it all on the bike

Don't spend $4000 on a bike, then $200 on gear expecting it to work in a crash.Second hand is good if it is in excellent condition,a second hand leather jacket is fine and better than new designer t shirt and jandels.

    test ride

buy what you are comfortable on - looks aren't everything

learn some basic maintenance and don't economise on tyres

    insure your bike

survival is down to luck - and the more you practise the luckier you will get

be aware that many other road users won't see you ... and you have no way of
knowing which ones do and which don't .... so be cautious of them all!

try to avoid throwing up whilst wearing a full-face helmet

It is very easy to turn excitment and enthusiasm into fear and and uncertainty. Take it one step at a time by getting proper instruction.

    Good luck.
