Yep. Cops said he was following too close and that's why he was charged.

Seems to me like this situation could be argued till the cows come home.

We have a car off the road apparently avoiding a biker, who may or may have not been riding a Harley. The questions are numerous here. Was it that close, or did the driver panic and take evasive action, resulting in a total loss of control? Was it that close and the driver had no choice but to take evasive action to avoid turning said biker into a hood ornament? Was it the biker being a wanker? Was it the inexperience of the car driver? Was it...?

If I read well enough tonight there is another thread about this incident, the bike in question there being a Ducati of some sort?

What a storm in a tea cup. A car drove off the road, apparently through a cheesecutter barrier. Now that is actually what I am interested in. Did the car go through/under/over these wonderful barriers?

Thank God no one was badly injured here, and hopefully there is insurance to cover any damage done.

Shame us bikers are in for some bad rep though, Tractor or not, we have been called out here.
The car went in behind the barrier.

See what the police have to say about it in the other thread, she was backended by the vehicle following her.

The bike might have contributed to the accident but was not involved in it.

So the Op got it wrong when he said the car went through the Cheese cutter and partially down a bank as a result. OK.

Here we go again people who were not there and dont know the road making comments about the event, and then disparaging comments about the actions of the driver and police.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

I dont think anybody except one of the two vehicles involved saw the accident. I guess thats a disparaging comment.

Your irony is giving your rationality a run for its money.
Considering R1madness used to own a black "Sturgis Sportster" (Terrorising the inhabitants of Lawrence in the South Island....)

    What a "HOOT"!

I don't see that his mentioning that they where a "group of Harley riders" is a slight on Harley riders as a whole.

I see it as a way of identifying a group of people who where riding bikes in that area, at that time.

Granted, the general public have a misconception about Harley's (and there owners) but it is shit like this that reaffirms it.

NZ is a small place ChCh even more so.

I don't believe for a second that the people involved are no longer aware of this.

Over the years I found the cops really forgiving about speeding on a bike, but every single cop involved in this incident (THERE WILL BE A FEW) are going to make every motorcyclists life HELL from now on.

    ALL TOGETHER NOW......... THANKS GUYS!
